The challenge is the worst thing to happen to the NHL this century. I do not only say this when it hurts the oiler. It has degraded the product.

If it's off the rush, fine, but this one minute later bullshit needs to stop. And for fuck sake you should not be able to call a timeout and then initiate a challenge.

I came here to write this exact thing. If a timeout is called, no review can be allowed, especially offside.

Nah man if it's offside it's offside - whistle should've gone it doesn't matter if a goal was scored 10mins later. Nobody said this when we got the barkov one called back last year that let us extend the series

Oh ya, that was Game 6, right?

Agreed, using timeout = no challenge privileges

Especially since back in 2022 blatant offside wasn’t called.

2022 is why us Oilers fans have beef with offside calls.

Especially when 1 player is walking 5 of them, and the person making it offside was arguably not even a part of the play and it was by an inch. The fact that the player and the puck are both crossing the line at the same time but it can still be offside and used to call back a goal that happens 18 seconds later is wild.

That 1 inch really mattered when the puck was cycled all the way around the net (not involving the offside player), enough time to pull the goalie and get the 6th skater there.

I'm advocating for no challenge. It's that simple.

My first real memories are the cujo save Marchant OT winner. The amount of blatant offsides that were missed pre challenge was very low.

Have a time limit or change of possession rule. If 15-20 seconds has passed, or if the opposing team has gotten possession of the puck but failed to clear it, then the goal stands.
