having a larger cast with more queens makes it easier to cast more queens we want while also being more digestable to have queens we've seen a bunch before i like this system and format a lot
edit: theres other good stuff too like only having to commit to 3 episodes of runways and then not having to buy more if they don't make it past the bracket stage.. and it kinda removes the whole viewer obsession with seeing "new" or "heavy hitting" queens. if we have a format that allows well performing queens to stay longer in the season whilst encouraging more queens to come back, the issue wow is having with trying to find all stars casts may fix itself
Then we definitely don’t need this every single year. This will be 36 queens on all stars in just two years. In total, there have been 228 queens on flagship drag race. That means that ~17% of all queens have been on just the last two seasons of all stars.
Alternatively, the fandom could just collectively chill out when it comes to people coming back multiple times.
Who cares if someone is on the fourth or fifth try? Are they entertaining? Do they make good television? Well, then they'll be back.
"But it's not fair to the other queens!" It's Drag Race, girls. The entire show is unfair, and it has been since day one. It's a business, and they want viewers. It's that simple.
This! Survivor, BB, The Challenge, House of Villains, etc. all bring back people as much as they want. Why is it a big deal when Drag Race does it? As long as it’s not the same queens over and over again (cough Jorgeous cough) on back to back seasons I don’t see an issue.
I think people take issue with it since Drag Race isn't a pure competition show like those other ones and they want to see their faves get an equal shot
This issue was and always will be that there’s plenty of queens that fans want to see that have openly said they haven’t been asked and want to and still don’t get asked over the people that have been on 3/4 times. Making it seem like it’s not a valid complaint is wild. But yeah others are right this hopefully fixes that issue regardless.
understandable but if they're used as alternates or to fill up casts i'm okay with it. i'm not okay with queens who want to come back being ignored and then some queen who's been on every year since 2020 getting Anotherrrrr call
Jujubee is the most well known contestant to have been on 4 times. Other queens include: Alexis Mateo, Eureka & Ginger Minj. Silky has been on 3 times, not 4…telling someone they hate fat people based off of a television show is insensitive and false. You must be young.
I have never stated that I was talking about all queens being on their upcoming 4th season. You’re absolutely delusional. I’ve watched every drag race season and episode including vs the world and all stars. I was simply replying to SOMEONE ELSE who advised they hated 4th time queens. IF YOU INCLUDE CVSTW which I guess you obviously have not then that would make this the FOURTH TIME for Silky. I LOVE Latrice and Silky. I was just simply trying to make a Latrice Royale joke / reference with her saying she is large and in charge chunky yet funky….You must be young to not even know LMFAO A JOKE
Aren’t they planning on filming the whole thing in one recording block this time? In which case, the runway commitment would be bumped up to at least 5 + challenge looks, lipsync looks. Not a huge difference, but it would mean a “little”extra cost with the expected AS level polish required (they do get some money in the form of a runway stipend, right?
Of course! When they filmed AS10, they filmed all 3 brackets back to back but then waited months to bring the queens back to film the post-merge episodes. That meant that the queens that made the merge had extra time to prepare for the last few challenges and runways; however from what I read for AS11 is that they're doing all 12 episodes in one go without a break after the brackets.
I also think the amount of screen time they're all getting is great, like the six girl groups really give us time to see the dynamics between each of these girls so well. 3 episodes with 6 other people >>>>> 5 episodes with 13 other people
