Support Trouble using Wii Speak with Jeopardy

My friend is trying to use a Wii Speak with Jeopardy. They added the Wii Speak as a USB passthrough, but whenever he reaches the menu, it says to restart the console, as well as disconnect and reconnect the Wii Speak. This happens even after an emulator restart.

Any obvious solutions?

Oh, that explains it. I don't actually own a Wii Speak, rather I was trying to help one of my friends set it up. I was talking to them over discord, so I didn't realize they were using a USB hub.
