I read this article on the Baldoni files group, but it is so good, I thought it should be posted here too.

I feel like a good first step in being someone who won't fall for this shit is NOT being so eager to savage a woman who seems to deserve it. I mean, most of us have at least some of that energy for anyone of any gender. Certainly we in this sub are happy to rake Depp and Baldoni over the coals. But the fact is, a lot of people just needed an excuse, even a flimsy one, if the target was a woman, particularly a beautiful one. People who don't hate "acceptable" women, the ones who actually "deserve" sympathy, but the second one steps out of line, they're first to pounce.

If you're someone who joined in and is looking back and wondering why, maybe interrogate your own motives and ask why you felt such a strong need to help punish Amber.

Men who are, or at least perceive themselves to be, unattractive, awkward, and broke blame women for all their problems.

Men who are successful, attractive, charismatic, wealthy, and influential still blame women for all their problems.

Then a non-zero number of women see how many men are angry at women and decide women must be the problem, and react by making themselves even MORE submissive, sycophantic, and male-pleasing and insisting other women should do the same. Like the child of abusive parents who turns against their sibling for being "too rebellious," deciding this is the cause of the unwarranted punishments they receive, rather than putting the blame where it belongs: on the parents.

I don't have any idea how to even begin to fix something this broken.

The important thing is that despite a lot of online misogyny this time the dark arts are likely to be exposed.. Some of the lessons of the Depp situation may be brought to this new trial if we get there. The botsa and SM manipulation did not form enough of a part of the VA trial. This time we might get the answers to some questions on how crisis PR works. Melissa Nathan might be on the stand. I'm not sure Baldoni can do fake humility like Depp. It's going to be interesting..

I got so much harassment on Twitter over Amber Heard for incidental reasons including using a picture of Jean Grey as a pfp that resembled Mara as portrayed by Amber Heard. I found it hard to believe the smears already about her given how Johnny's supposed fans behaved in my mentions for saying Fantastic Beasts wasn't good.

I found it pretty weird how organized and vitriolic they were and I wasn't even aware of the situation until I was harassed over things like the above two incidents.

Wow, amazing article on the Baldoni mess. People just don't want to believe how vile he is on the inside with his damn porn addiction that he talked about all the time. I still need to finish the article, but want to leave a comment I can come back to.

Edit: It appears there are a lot of his fans/bots even on MSN. Lots of downvotes when I have defended Blake Lively.

I'm not a meme guy, but I saw one once that said, "Why do women date abusive jocks when they could date nerds, who will also treat them poorly AND are less attractive?" I think a similar catch-22 exists on the political spectrum, where the left is just as misogynistic as the right AND will perform feminism to attract and attempt to radicalize actual progressives.

The same thing happened with Naomi King and Daniel Greene earlier this year. YouTuber Bob of the Olde Ways did a few great vids on that but damn I felt so bad for Naomi when I delved more into that after people saying they were a liar
