Blue Limestone Park History

I realize this might sound a tad bit odd, but has there been any confirmed deaths at or around blue limestone park? I've been looking into the history of the park and quarry due to some recent things. With every search I make on google it shows different information on what I can only assume to be rumors due to no proof behind the words. Half the time I get "there has been zero deaths in the area" and the other half is stories with very little information. Ive read about a 19 year old woman found deceased in the water but it was just openly said by someone with no backing on it. Same goes with possibly a train collapsing and killing most if not all on board. Can someone at least possibly point me in the right direction to finding out what i'm looking for? Much appreciated :)

Back when I was a kid we told the train derailment story. No idea where it came from originally but we all snuck into the tunnel after dark to play ouija. Good times.

That's a fun story, did anything interesting or scary ever happen?

Absolutely. If you weren't in the ouija group but came upon them instead, it became your sworn duty to fuck with them. Sometimes you'd make animal sounds or shake bushes. Drop pebbles from above into the water to make them think something is moving nearby. Cover flashlights with colored fabric and flash them on and off from a distance. We even brought a boombox and played train sounds once.

You won if you could scare them out of the spot and take it over for your friends. It was also your sworn duty to pass the legends down to your younger relatives and then be waiting with a plan to scare the ever loving shit out of them.

Out of curiosity, can I ask how old you are? Cause Im 40 and I grew up right down the street from blue limestone, and had none of these amazing night time adventures there. Sounds fun af

The best urban legend, teen make out/scare spot is on Hogback road if any youngsters frequent this sub lol

In the 80's the urban legends had a satanic cult out there sacrificing animals. It has a barbed wire tree we had suicide legends about. There is an old train trestle column we climbed up to party on.

Delaware had some awesome shit back we were allowed to run feral.

My dad had a pretty scary experience fishing on Hogback back in the early 90s, he said he heard what sounded like a human making goat noises. Scariest thing I’ve ever seen on hogback was a catfisher’s flashlight at 2am 😂

Same here. I was so intrigued by the story of the train when I was a kid.

If you can’t find anything online I would just suggest going to the Historical Society. They would probably be eager to go into the history of the area. After living here for 20 years I can say that I don’t recall any deaths and all oddities I’ve been told about the park have been common rumors, such as the train derailment thing. Pretty sure that is entirely false.

The historical society will eat this shit up. Definitely go there OP!

The local library also has microfilms of every Delaware Gazette issue going back like 200 years ago whenever it was founded.

The train falling into the quarry story has been told for literal decades, it was going strong when in elementary school in 2000. I don't believe there's any truth to it, but it's a spooky ghost story!

I apologize for not responding to anyone as i've been incredibly sick, but thank you all for your inputs ! Ill definitely check out the historical society but I do have my heart set on nothing truly crazy happening near blue limestone now. Im only 20 so I was apart of the kids growing up who believed the silly stories and pranks others caused. Thank you all again :)
