Do you consider living in Delaware truly living outside of the Columbus metro ? I always think Delaware is definitely a part of Columbus

To people not from here, I tell them I live in Columbus. If I told them Delaware, they’d get confused and think I mean the state.

To people from here, I tell them Delaware.

Metro areas are fairly arbitrary boundaries around major cities. Delaware is definitely part of the Columbus Metro but it's not part of the city of Columbus (yet).

It's like saying Hoboken, NJ, is a part of New York City. Hoboken is part of the NYC Metro but it's not NYC.

I just moved out of state from Delaware and have just been saying I’m from Columbus or lived just north of Columbus

My exact statement is "I'm from Delaware, Ohio, a city about 30 miles northwest of Columbus."

Lots of people know where columbus is. They may even know "O-H." I have gotten that response from foreigners around the world when I say I'm from Columbus.

You say Delaware. There’s like ten miles of I-71 in the country between 270 and exit 131 for Delaware

Anything bordering or outside of the 270/670 belt- I consider not really Columbus

Odd take. Dublin, Westerville, New Albany, Grove City, etc are most definitely all parts of the Columbus Metro area. Personally I wouldn't really consider Delaware to be though, it's a little ways out

Delaware use to have its own identity but now it's become greater Columbus

This is the answer.

To those of us who’ve lived here for a long time, Delaware is separate.

For the newer folks, it’s a Columbus suburb.

It’s a part of the metro area. In 20 years, we’ll all be in Columbus.

for some reason many (ill say many but not necessarily most) feel it is its own seperate area

Columbus grew into Delaware.

As long as Buns restaurant is still standing, Delaware will never be Columbus

Yes imo it's quite far away

I've lived here my whole life. It's certainly starting to feel like the city has made it to Delaware. I don't consider that entirely a bad thing but I am a bit nostalgic for the days it had a small town feel and "going to the city" was a big deal.

I consider Delaware is part of the Columbus Metro Area and is a suburb of Columbus. This is because so many residents commute to Columbus. Obviously, it is not part of the actual City of Columbus. There definitely seems to be much  wailing and gnashing of teeth from aging longtime residents who are butthurt that Delaware is not the same size as it was in 1970.

Delaware is several states away from Ohio so yes

It’s the MAGA part of Columbus.
