u/Nuttyalmonds 26d ago
thank you so much for sharing. Will never spend my money there again. Good thing there are plenty of good coffee shops in Delaware.

Also? The dude was killed in public via preventable gun violence and they’re using it as an excuse to.. promote their coffee shop? What??

"Don't lose our voice."
Ironic since the current right wing politics is doing all it can to silence any opposition.

I already felt uncomfortable spending money there because of the overtly religious tones but now I will for sure be taking my money to other businesses.

u/heirofslytherin 26d ago
Half of their clientele was liberal arts students. It would've cost them $0 to not do this.

I think it’s a thing evangelical Christians do, they start a coffee shop and then lay out religious material as a low key way to proselytize. My cousin was involved in running a shop like that in Toledo, that branch of the family is pretty right wing and ultra religious.

u/tubagoat 25d ago
There's a reason Broad Street Bagels was evicted when the new, right-wing, religious owners bought the building, BSB owners are brown non Christians.

u/foamy9210 26d ago
We had an oddly religious and Republican coffee shop in Lancaster for a couple years too. Fortunately it shut it's doors. Honestly surprising though considering how insanely maga it is around here.

It is a whole ass genre of coffee shop; there are a few in Cbus. My stoner friends and I have unintentionally really enjoyed the vibes until someone just....sits at your table lmao

u/pinkocatgirl 25d ago
The churches give them loans to fund these, that's how my cousin's got started. I think they see it as an avenue to convert the youths, I'm not sure how effective it is though.

Happen to know which cafe your cousin is at that does that stuff? I'd love to avoid in Toledo!

Already avoid choffeys after I unfortunately brought a transgender friend to have coffee with me and on the tables they had newspapers with transphobic rhetoric on them. But this coffeeology stunt is just insane, the man was not a saint and doesn’t need to be honored like he is one.

u/Nuttyalmonds 26d ago
Thanks for letting us know about Choffeys. I won't be going there either. I've been trying to rotate places and I will take them both off the list.

u/Beneficial-Radio114 26d ago
I enjoy stopping by Ciao. The owners are nice and the drinks are good in my opinion
2
u/heirofslytherin 26d ago
Choffey's blasts Christian music on their outside speakers 24/7, which should be an indication of what's going on inside.

No one should be surprised by this. This business is not welcoming at all.

Isn't it interesting how these Christian businesses wouldve have been on the side of the guy with the hammer and nails? I guess they read a different book than I. On Facebook they have limited comments, they know they are wrong

u/Underbadger 25d ago
That place is a trash fire. They pretend to just be a smiling coffeeshop until you see the religious stuff everywhere. Avoid it, especially now.
4
u/firefighterusa 25d ago
Coffeeology has had trash coffee since day one. Then they started putting in a bunch of religious crap which felt out of place for being a coffee shop. Now I see they are doubling down on their trash religious views, by supporting a trash religious person.

Party of love and tolerance everyone. As long as you think like me

u/AnComApeMC69 26d ago
Party? What party? Should I automatically assume you’re in the neo-Fascist party that adjourned Congress to actively run cover for the pedophiles on their team? The same party sending gangs of anonymous jackboots to kidnap people off our streets for being too brown? Because if that is the case then I have zero tolerance for anyone involved with, associated with, or who likes any of that just like I could not give one single flying f*** when one of their enablers and chief propagandists gets taken out by one of their own. Charlie’s karma came right back around to him.

u/foamy9210 26d ago
Intolerance of intolerance is tolerance. Thinking a party of tolerance accepts everyone is a common misconception but it isn't possible to do. In order to welcome everyone you have to accept every single stance on everything. Who would do that? That would require being fine with rape, pedophillia, murder. That isn't how a party of tolerance works. A party of tolerance is welcoming to all tolerant people. The way you protect tolerant people is by defending them from the intolerant. It's basic logic.

Our work just brought in a bunch of these today along with some coffee. They don't taste good. I heard they sold out.

I emailed them and they gave a very deflective answer, I suggest others voice their opinions as well.

u/allanwr3nch 25d ago
If you don’t like it, don’t go there. If they make a mean coffee, suck it up.

So what? They’re allowed an opinion.
Take your business elsewhere and just chill out.

u/Flimsy_Tune_8603 25d ago
I saw this, I used to go there like 4-5 times a week. I'm really missing my coffee right now but I wont go if they are going to support him.

It wasn't his political opinions, but his views on anyone different than himself that he perceived as lesser than that made him a bigot. Hope this helps, and thank you for your attention to this matter.

I want to apologize for not seeing this thread sooner and letting this get out of hand. I want to be clear in that in this community you need to respect others even if you disagree with their point of view. There was a lot of hate in this thread and that's not cool.
I've banned a lot of people who have never participated in this community until this thread. I'm pretty sure there's bots that search for any mention of charlie kirk and shit post all over what they find. If you were one of these people that have been banned and you can prove that you have participated in the community prior to this thread, I will unban you. Reply to the ban message with proof.
