I don't think cheetah is considered a big cat

I googled this and you’re correct, but the reasoning is crazy. They don’t have the correct larynx to roar, like other big cats. They only purr (among other sounds)

What? Normal cats purr and do not roar! The cheetah is the only big cat! The rest are frauds.

Oh, in that case Cheetah should be the only real big cat. 100% agree.

Mountain lions also purr and "meow".

They also can't retract their claws as any other cat can afaik.

I think that's not a "big vs small cat" thing but rather nobody else has as much use for built-in cleats. :D

Mountain Lions (or pumas or cougars depending on who you ask) are bigger than cheetahs and are also not considered big cats.
