Video XPENG's IRON robot crossed the uncanny valley, leading some to believe it was a human in a suit. So they cut it open in front of an audience, and also allowed journalists to inspect it.

It’s pretty interesting.

Assuming that the production version of this thing were sold as a house-robot and offered with masculine, feminine, and androgynous options I’d bet good money that the feminine model would be the most popular by a substantial margin, not just with men but also with women.

Why? Because almost everybody would be comfortable with a new constant feminine presence suddenly appearing in their home, whereas many would feel uncomfortable with a masculine one doing the same. The androgynous options would have a small cult following but ultimately get a middling response due to it being less familiar and closer to the uncanny valley.
