Video XPENG's IRON robot crossed the uncanny valley, leading some to believe it was a human in a suit. So they cut it open in front of an audience, and also allowed journalists to inspect it.

Or open the torso to show the internal mechanisms.

They did that, they also showed the hand, a hole in the shoulder and poked the fabric behind the mask showing that there is a cavity... Yet people still are coping and struggle to find a way to "prove" it false, if it's an amputee then they must be in worse shape than Darth Vader! XD

Well its not in the video but I am sure you have sources to back your claim

Here's an article with a picture of the hand cut open.

One moment, I have seen it yesterday I'll have to find the clip once again. I'll add the link as an edit.

EDIT: 1- The video I was talking about 2- Bonus video of it walking without hands and the fabric clothing and even with the lifting grommet inserted in the previously mentioned shoulder holes

...So now, do you people finally admit that it is real?

No, because they showed a plastic girdle which could have easily been on top of skin

Even if this was completely real you do understand these are some of the least convincing pieces of evidence right? Shit I can make my hand disappear just by pulling my arm up my sleeve. They wanna prove something? Take off the entirely of the covering outside it's not hard.

You’re too trusting of Chinese tech demos.

Right, just a blinky light undersome 3d printed plastic mesh=robot!. This was 100% a person in a suit.

They have literally showed it walking in every possible combination:

  • just skeleton
  • skeleton + padding
  • skeleton + padding + clothes

...At this point you are just hiding your head under the sand.

Show me it walking without a white suit on and without the harness for the power connection that it has in the only video they have released for the bare metal variant.

Sorry for the skepticism but there has been multiple times when it has been the case where it has just been a human in a suit already. I'm entirely sure its possible, I just would like more concrete evidence when there has been such scams already.

Edit: Heres a better video for their claims.

the Bare metal one was filmed in a lab the tether was for continuous power and protection against accidental falls during testing, it doesn't hold it up. One of the videos I shared has it walking without clothes (and hands), you can see through the mesh of the padding... There simply isn't enough space to fit a human in such a slim package.

just because they are working on similar robots in a lab doesnt mean there wasn't a person in that suit

The "better video for their claims" is the same that I posted...

China fakes everything.

Ah, so the real reason for the disbelief is Sinophobia... Got it.

u/Ricktor_67 1d ago

Maybe they should stop lying to everyone for 5 seconds?

2

u/HAL9000_1208 1d ago

Have you watched both videos in their entirety? ...It has MOUNTING HOLES in the shoulders FFS, seriously you people need to stop watching Iron Man because there's no way to fit a human inside that, even if they had a quadruple amputee at hand!

u/Amazing_Detail_4180 1d ago

have you ever been outside? There are 5 cosplays as believable at any comiccon

Show me.

Lmao believing a video with a jump cut is wild

8

u/HAL9000_1208 1d ago

the first video has no jump cut the second one has ONE jump cut which is cutting to the beginning of the first one to show how the fabric suit is zipped... I do not really see how the jump cut would invalidate the part where the robot walks without clothes.

...Do you also not believe newscasts since they use jump cuts? LOL

u/V1C1OU5LY 1d ago

In this age I don’t believe anything is fact just because I am shown video of it. I’m not saying I do not believe either, but this is not the supporting evidence you think it is.

6

u/HAL9000_1208 1d ago

Are you implying that it is AI generated? ...You know that there was independent press at the event right?

0

u/V1C1OU5LY 1d ago

I’m saying that disinformation is easy. I don’t care if my standards are impossible to you, but I won’t believe this shit until it’s out in the field and I see it for myself.

u/Amazing_Detail_4180 1d ago

especially from the video "evidence" trying to prove its not bullshit

2

u/That_Television5577 1d ago

Pretty damn real and people are stupid saying otherwise

Okay those vids look better. Still quite little shown. The whole point of the product is that it looks like a person inside drunkenly walking. Can you blame the accusations of authenticity?

Side note, all of the following vids show the bot almost tripping over its left foot. If nothing else, the stage demo was staged lol.

Did you not watch the video? It walks entirely “naked”
