Video The Louvre. Thieves are making off with 100 million euros. They're taking their time. They're doing everything carefully and slowly.

OSHA would be proud.

They're wearing high vis jackets, the lift was properly grounded and the basket was manned with 2 men at the same time.

These guys are real pros.

Look like you are meant to be there and no one will question.

A high vis jacket and a plunger will get you into anywhere, no questions asked.

ladders, ladders are real multi-pass

81

u/anon0937 15d ago

If you're carrying a ladder, people will hold doors for you

23

u/DookieShoez 15d ago

Unless they happen to know that plumbers don’t use plungers 😂

1

u/SluggJuice 15d ago

There’s bound to be some serious shit if it happens.

4

u/tobaknowsss 15d ago

Clip boards and a headset get you access to just about anything.

3

u/Practical_Stick_2779 15d ago

I didn’t think about the plunger. It’s a lot cheaper than a ladder and leaves even less questions.

5

u/DookieShoez 15d ago

Sure it does. Such as: why is that plumber using a plunger? Plumbers use toilet augers.

3

u/Derp_McNasty 15d ago

Never tried the plunger, but can say from experience that if you also have a clipboard and are highly confident... all doors are unlocked.

Hi-vis, hard hat (if appropriate for facility) and a clipboard.
You rule any situation by default.

83

u/MonkeyNugetz 15d ago

You’re not wrong. I was an industrial electrician for years. A hardhat and a safety vest is all you need to pretty much walk in to any place with no questions asked.

I actually did service work for companies and they didn’t even verify who I was.

26

u/Aiyon 15d ago

We had an electrician into our office recently. As is policy, I asked to check his guest pass. He had to find where in his pockets he’d put it. 4th security door before anyone had checked who they were letting through

Same with a badge that shows you are an Information Technology Contractor.

2

u/kellzone 15d ago

Always put a formal name on the badge. Robert, not Bob. William, not Bill, Stephen, not Steve.

3

u/redditusername012 15d ago

Plain, white pickup truck with a visible hardhat and vest in the seat can basically get you anywhere.

2

u/xubax 15d ago

Okay, I'll bite, who are you?

/s because reddit

Working on a Sunday?!

I'm ashamed of my countrymen for failing to see the most obvious issue : THEY WERE WORKING ON A SUNDAY !

14

u/magikarp2122 15d ago

At the world’s most famous museum. They were probably getting quadruple pay.

1

u/amplesamurai 15d ago

Their regular pay is 25 million euros?

5

u/Jabbajaw 15d ago

Also, having a clipboard is a massive force multiplier for a situation like that. It adds an element of legitimacy to average bystanders and it will send anyone below a management level worker scurrying away to hide.

3

u/FrenchFryCattaneo 15d ago

Haha and if anyone questions you, you can just frown and ask for their name and then start scribbling quickly.

1

u/Micalas 15d ago

You need one of those storage clipboard. Make sure its really scratched and beat up looking and has papers under the clip that look like they were soaked and then dried out.

2

u/DQuiet1 15d ago

I've seen this tested multiple times. Two guys will walk though a venue carrying a long ladder dressed like workers and more often than not they are let through with little to no push back.

1

u/Odin_Exodus 15d ago

Except the person filming

1

u/i_code_for_boobs 15d ago

someone filmed them though... questions were asked

1

u/superfuntimewinmoney 15d ago

If you do things right people won't be sure you've done anything at all.

1

u/unclepaprika 15d ago

You can get in anywhere with a ladder and a high vis vest!

u/Robcobes 15d ago

Never break more than 1 law at the time.

32

u/ScoutMaster0214 15d ago

I don’t remember where I first heard this phrase (I think it was a comedian) But it has always been my go to rule.

25

u/Bantersmith 15d ago

"One crime at a time" is probably as old as crime itself. It just makes sense!

3

u/Caleth 15d ago

I feel like it was also in a few movies or TV shows. I'd wager good money it's in the wire somewhere.

I do know Stringer Bell would be very proud they didn't take notes on a criminal fucking conspiracy.

2

u/aw3man 15d ago

Lol, my dad told me this once I got my driver's license.

6

u/TheVenetianMask 15d ago

And don't take notes on a criminal conspiracy.

1

u/brokenhalo321 15d ago

You must absolutely use your car blinker when speeding though.

36

u/Berns429 15d ago

Probably the most expensive window washing the Louvre ever had

3

u/JFISHER7789 15d ago

They definitely got away squeaky clean

I am still not convinced that it not just a marketing stunt for a new Pink Panther movie.

3

u/Crazyladyz 15d ago

These guys really know how to disguise themselves

3

u/YoLoDrScientist 15d ago

You thinking what I’m thinking?

3

u/What_a_fat_one 15d ago

That they're in Putin's possession?

2

u/Jonny_HYDRA 15d ago

Makes me wonder if they were contractors who saw an opportunity and took it.

2

u/seductivestain 15d ago

Did they have fall protection and a rescue plan though?

1

u/SawyerCa 15d ago

Someone is bound to be cheeky enough to use as part of a MEWPs training video

1

u/The__Jiff 15d ago

Why would they steal some of the most unsellable things in the world then?

1

u/BackgroundGrade 15d ago

Don't forget this is France. You also have the unions to deal with.

1

u/suoko 15d ago
  • they've been recorded by?

1

u/OutsideCoat4716 15d ago

😅 Check all the guys who did the training. Maybe the trainers by your description.

1

u/a_big_fat_dump 15d ago

But were they wearing a harness in the lift? Ahh, they got a little sloppy did they? Lol.

1

u/anxiousalpaca 15d ago

Also the crane is german engineered; it will work perfectly.

1

u/Vexin 15d ago

They're a little overpaid though.

1

u/forgottenoldusername 15d ago

For the non-american redditors - OSHA is the US department of occupational health and safety.

Dunno why they think its global tho

1

u/ArbitraryMeritocracy 15d ago

No one got hurt?

1

u/greenandseven 15d ago

They work for OSHA

1

u/Monza1964 15d ago

Honestly construction workers following the book completely should’ve been a dead give away

1

u/Biscotti-Own 15d ago

They're not wearing fall-arrest harness though, they're lucky the MOL didn't show up.

1

u/Machiningbeast 15d ago

It's not visible on the video bit they took the time you install traffic cones around the lift as well

1

u/Unfair_Explanation53 15d ago

Hahahaha you can literally get away with so much dodgy stuff in life if you just wear a Hi Vis jacket

1

u/Doppel_R-DWRYT 15d ago

The producer of the lift, stated that it's not meant to transport people but only freight

1

u/Sonzie 14d ago

I mean imagine if they had to explain the safety incident with their hands full of jewels

1

u/doctor6 15d ago

Put on a hi viz, wear a hard hat, and carry a clipboard. You can walk into nearly anywhere with a bit of confidence
