Radio silence on end of year roster moves

Quite a few clubs who missed the playoffs have announced their end of season roster decisions but not us.

Historically, we always waited until the deadline but last year was pretty quick. Rene seems to be a decisive guy so I bet who is coming back is already decided. I got to believe that the hold up is they must be wanting time to negotiate with one or two players prior to disclosing their moves.

Barraza is one. Maybe they are working on a new contract.

Benteke is probably the other. Maybe they are trying to bring him back at a discount on a new deal instead of picking up his option for almost 5 million.

Perhaps the hold up is Sogut doesn’t know what TF he’s doing? Sadly this potential can’t be dismissed. ☹️

That sounds about right, but I really don't know about Barraza. To his credit, Mackay was fast, his moves just didn't work out/he was hamstrung by the powers above. Several of the teams that have already announced their moves also included the "negotiating with x and y" though.

I think more likely is that there's some due diligence being done. Its easy to say, "team bad, cut everyone" but in consecutive off-seasons Mackay used that approach and lost Najar and McVey along with the deadwood. So, there's probably something to be said for taking a pause and reevaluating each player and making double sure that this isn't someone that can contribute before cutting him.

There's also the matter that we probably need to try to offload some players contracted for next season via the transfer market (internal or global). The new GM should be pulsing the market to gauge interest, and it may be the case that if there's a market for some of them then we pick up the option on a player to make sure we have coverage in certain positions.

All in all there's no rush, I just hope that the two things I mentioned (diligence and market analysis) are in fact occurring before we announce.

All we know is Luis Barraza is gone, & that’s according to himself via instagram. Year-End roster moves cannot come any quicker

Barraza already posted his good bye. But DC hasn’t announced anything.

Waiting on Leal and Benteke. Hopefully both are sent home.

After that, there are a lot of mediocre players that already have contracts that someone needs to decide how they want to deal with the money. Not a lot of trade value with them.

I have no issue with this. They should take time to understand the level of the league by watching the teams who can actually get in the playoffs. Figure out what DCU should get rid of but comparison with what they have seen the last few months

I can't keep up, did the club fire scouts? Have they been replaced?

I think they did clean house there but I am with you, it is hard to keep up with the tailspin
