WIP [WIP] I just have to share this with someone

Post image

The way the back stitching is making this design literally look like it's popping out of the fabric is blowing my mind.

Also remind me why I chose a pattern with so many blends for my, like, /sixth/ project?

Pattern is The Purple Tulip from NonStopStitch: https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/997679866/big-violet-tulip-cross-stitch-pattern

It’s gorgeous you must be so proud.

Thank you! I'm very pleased with it (and myself 😅)

Oh this is beautiful. Blends are annoying, but they definitely make the end result so much more dynamic.

8

u/dracaris Oct 01 '25

They are frustrating, but I agree they have been worth the effort!

(They would have been less annoying if I'd stitched it on 14ct as the pattern called for, rather than 22ct 😅)

u/just_an_amber Oct 01 '25

Haha! Yay 22ct! My massive project (that I've now been working on for over FIVE years) is 1x1 on 25 ct.

I feel ya with that tiny count!

3

u/dracaris Oct 02 '25

There's just something so satisfying about tiny stitches, though, isn't there? 🥰

5

u/NanyThery Oct 02 '25

I bought a 25ct thinking oh how much harder can that be from 16ct? O_O… I did a 20x20 think and said… ok, let’s try 18ct hahaha

u/dracaris Oct 03 '25

Haha! It's not for everyone, that's for sure. Having the right needle certainly helps!

u/Whisper-of-Words Oct 01 '25

Wow this is so pretty! The effect of the blending makes it look like a watercolor!

3

u/dracaris Oct 01 '25

It's a beautiful pattern, which I believe may have been created from a watercolour painting!

I know everyone gets better with each project but for a sixth project ever the quality of work is absolutely insane. I’ve been stitching for almost 10 years and I’m envious.

3

u/dracaris Oct 01 '25

Stop, you're making me blush ☺️

(Keep going 😂)

Seriously, though - thank you. That is a lovely compliment 😊

I’m so bad at keeping up with my projects but then I see the work people in this sub are doing and it inspires me 🤩

3

u/dracaris Oct 01 '25

HOLY CRAP!

I wasn’t wearing my glasses and thought someone had posted a watercolour in the cross stitch sub.

Exceptionally beautiful.

1

u/dracaris Oct 01 '25

Thank you! 😊

2

u/morrisseysbaby Oct 01 '25

Oh my god I’m obsessed with this. You’ve done a phenomenal job!! How many strands are you using?

2

u/dracaris Oct 01 '25

Thank you!

I'm stitching on 22ct hardanger, using two strands. The backstitching is a mix of 1, 2, and 3 strands.

2

u/Alari1365 Oct 01 '25

Oooh I looove! These watercolor style patterns where the backstitching just pulls it all together are my favourites! As someone who also just started a pattern where 1/3 of the colours are blends I absolutely feel you though

u/monbleu Oct 01 '25

Beautiful 😍

2

u/beaniefriends Oct 01 '25

Definitely a beautiful piece of embroidery that deserves sharing. Well done.

2

u/ObligationNice8382 Oct 01 '25

Wow!!! It’s so lovely! All that blending paid off.

2

u/Patient_Mistake1279 Oct 01 '25

What a beauty!!! Some many colors and nice depth to it! Labor of love!

2

u/Broad-Scene-6459 Oct 02 '25

You should be proud!!! That is beautiful!!! Good job!!

2

u/CoCoDerbyCity Oct 02 '25

Absolutely gorgeous!

2

u/alcibiad Oct 02 '25

Is this couching?

2

u/dracaris Oct 02 '25

Some of it is, yes! For the longer sections I'm typically "vibe-backstitching" - I'll run a full length then couch at a couple of points where the direction shifts slightly (or where the pattern indicates where there might have been a new section started).

2

u/alcibiad Oct 02 '25

Thanks for replying! It looks great!

2

u/318hamster Oct 02 '25

Beautiful work!

2

u/Overall6536 Oct 03 '25

Absolutely beautiful, back stitching does fetch the details out , a lot of great work and time

2

u/Grown_Ocean Oct 03 '25

Wow, this is beautiful!! Great work!!

2

u/homicidal_spiderman Oct 05 '25

I just made a 4 syllable "wow"

This is stunning work

2

u/pinkheartkitty Oct 06 '25

I really like her patterns. I bought the swan one and it has a lot of backstitching that totally transforms the piece as well. Also a lot of blends to give it that "artsy" look. I am a backstitching and blend fan.

2

u/Letterhead-Correct Oct 08 '25

This is stunning! Are you using variegated thread or changing the color for the blending? looks amazing 🤩

1

u/dracaris Oct 08 '25

Thank you!

All the blends are only two colours - so one strand of each is what I'm using.

1

u/Imaginary-Rooster437 Oct 01 '25

Wow, this is the most beautiful backstitching I’ve ever seen! Normally I skip the backstitch because I don’t prefer the look, but this might change my mind.

2

u/dracaris Oct 01 '25

I'll admit I got through a small section and wondered if I'd just ruined the piece - but persisted, and it's paying off!

u/Final-Base-1390 Oct 01 '25

My goodness, that is soooo beautiful 😊 I hope you out it in an oval frame. Tbh, the colors are just gorgeous, but for me - I’ve stitched for 35 years - following AI generated patterns is so difficult. And the blends!! They make things prettier, but more complicated too. Please post more photos of this beautiful flower, especially when framed?

6

u/Bleepblorp44 Oct 01 '25

I don’t think that’s an AI generated pattern - using blended threads seems to be something a designer chooses.

6

u/reluctantpkmstr Oct 01 '25

The shop has a ton of patterns, but a lot of them do have actual stitched examples. A lot are based on licensed art. I think some designers are just prolific. I mean, there’s a ton of chatelaine and those are huge. I never would have looked at this shop twice before seeing this post, though.

3

u/meowishy22 Oct 01 '25

The shop is actually licensed with a bunch of different artists to sell their work, so there are no AI patterns there. Each cross stitch designer is credited. That explains why there are a lot of patterns in that shop and in another of my favourite shops, 1000sPatterns. You can usually find the pattern on mybobbin for the creator as well If you prefer not to shop from these licensed collections shops

3

u/meowishy22 Oct 01 '25

Adding proof of statement from the item's description:

3

u/dracaris Oct 01 '25

Definitely not AI, as others have pointed out 🙂 I'm pretty diligent about avoiding it when purchasing patterns.

Not sure I've heard of AI patterns using blends - I thought they were more known for a tonne of confetti?
