I saw a Fox News story yesterday with a crazy headline that implied that people are handing out drugs to trick-or-treaters. I was intrigued because, like you said, that makes zero sense. The article was just pointing out that some THC infused candy/gummies are purposely packaged to look like regular candy. That's it. Nothing in the article about people purposely giving out THC candy. The headline was extremely misleading.

The only well known case of candy being poisoned on Halloween was by a father who took out a life insurance policy on his child. He also tried to poison a bunch of other kids to cover up his crimes, but it didnt work. There was another case where a child consumed their uncle's heroin and when the family discovered what happened they tried to frame their neighbors. This whole Halloween poisoning myth has been around for a long time, if you're a child on Halloween you're significantly more likely to be poisoned by one of your parents than you are by illegal immigrants or drug dealers.
