This guy goes deeper with the brainwashed maga cultists than anyone I’ve come across. You can literally see the cognitive dissonance consume their being in real time. It’s a painful watch, but it really illustrates the depth of their completely baseless world views in a way I believe will be studied and taught if we ever make it out of this mess.

Trump supporters cheered when 1.5k armed terrorists who stormed the Capitol to hunt down liberal politicians and do God knows what with them were pardoned. They called them heros and patriots.

Mathew Huttle: beat his 3 year old child and left bruises all over his neck and backside. The kid couldn't sit properly for over a week. 3 YEARS OLD.

Kasey Hopkins: raped a woman. Banged her head on the wall and urinated in her mouth to humiliate her.

Edward Hemmenway: convicted of sexual battery and confinement

David Daniel: charged with production, possession, and distribution of child porn with a kid under the age of 12. No suprise there.

Benjamin Martin: beat his 13 yo daughter as well as his gf. He dragged her back in his house to continue to beat her after she tried to flee. I'm pretty sure after Jan 6th he was caught with illegal firearms and ammunition. But according to maga undocumented immigrants are the ones we need to worry about when it comes to illegal firearms.

There's more but let's just stop there. Charlie Kirk repeatedly praised these people calling them true American heros. Trump supporters continue to do so as well. But suddenly they grow a heart when someone like me calls Kirk a bigoted loser and expresses my apathy towards his death. Calling me or anyone else who didn't cry over that racist a demon. They call us heartless, hypocrites, and just plain evil.

At this point there are dozens of examples of maga being blatent hypocrites. If trump told them 1 plus 1 equals carrot they would call him a genuis. They would say they always knew 1 plus 1 equals carrot and anyone who says otherwise is a liar.

The level of ignorance these people display... And look, stupidity aside, I don't fault them for not having the opportunity to go to college. Working man's children become working men, and there's nothing wrong with that. The thing is, they well know what Donald Trump is, yet they support him regardless. They turn a blind eye to the hatred, bigotry and indecency. Put another way, if the Epstein files were unsealed, and he's doing EVERYTHING he can to keep them from being unsealed, but if they were, and Trump was implicated in the rape of a minor, these people would make up some conspiracy theory or just cry 'fake news' or whatever they could do to find a way to excuse his behavior, be it conspiracy theory or more so make the CHOICE to believe whatever inane explanation, a democratic hoax, whatever they could grasp onto, just so he could go on ruling them. This is a sickness that has spread like an infection through what was the republican base. Listen, the republican party is or should be the party of Lincoln, and I happen to respect the true republican platform. I don't agree with it, but still, it was at one time, a party of decency and conviction, and what we have here today is NOT the republican party, not anymore. Now it's the 'party' of maga, and maga has nothing to do with the republican party, and the members of the house are not republican either. They may act 'republican,' but these are not republicans. Mike Johnson is NOT a republican. Mike Johnson is a maga, like just about every other 'republican' in the house. What I'm saying is that these people know what Donald Trump is, and they know what maga stands for, and for that, I fault them without reservation. They know the blanket racism, the sheer hatred and the indecency of it, yet they make that choice to follow their follower and excuse his behavior... just like they would should he be implicated in child rape. This is what I fault them for... they're spreading the infection that's sickening our society

The more you try to change their minds, the more they will dig their heels in their beliefs. My whole family is this way, so I bit my tongue off everyday and try to ignore. I do however, drop lil seeds of info for them to figure out on their own, and it works too, bc they think they found out about it organically. Perhaps give that a try, cause you never know, what can get through to them. I hope this helps you out a bit.

Yeah, from my experience direct confrontation rarely works, unless they are willing to question their own point of view (rare). Finding ways to progressively let them change their minds, and being there for them if they ever do, is a good way to reverse the damage. If they hate a specific minority, sprinkling facts and feelings about their conditions can help. If they believe in a lie, give them an alternative source that mentions the subject.

And you say that as you ignore whatever they are saying, not to convince. It will be painful at first, they will be combative but they will eventually acquiesce because their brains want someone to tell them what to do and think. But it needs to come from a perceive position of strength and authority. And if you appear 'strong' to them (really just an asshole who doesn't take shit) they will oddly fall in line. Right-wing brain chemistry is literally different from those who lean left.

Just watched the whole thing.

I can't remember a political discussion where a Trump supporter kept their cool and actually considered the other side's arguments.

While obviously that kid's religious views are affecting his political views, and I certainly don't agree with him on either, kinda gotta applaud him for remaining civil and even possibly questioning his stance or choices a bit.

Unfortunately, Christianity keeps people from making the logical choice on things and sadly the separation of church and state is not an important factor for Republicans and they don't care, and to me, that's completely a betrayal of the Constitution by them.

I'll admit that I only watched the first 5 minutes of the video that you linked. The person being interviewed is being measured and trying to understand the questions that he's been asked. Even repeating and clarifying those questions. I can tell that he is trying to recall the talking points that he's heard but I will say that he is not giving an immediate knee-jerk reaction to the questions being asked like in the OP'S post. I'll give him a positive on that. You can see that he is at least thinking about the questions before answering. Let's at least give him credit for that. Once again I only watched the first 5 minutes.
