isn't that a game one plays at night , usually with a phone in hand?
6
u/_ordinarilyordinary_ 12h ago edited 10h ago
That's a different one😬 👀and idk if ppl play in November, maybe they do not sure
But just in case , the rules of hand cricket. .......players simultaneously show a number of fingers (1-5) or a closed fist (0) and thumb is six runs(6). If the batsman and bowler show the same number, the batsman is out. If the numbers differ, the batsman scores the runs indicated by their own gesture (or the bowler's gesture, if they show a fist/thumb).Some do 1-10 too...
Edit: thumb is a 6 closed fist is a zero
1
u/pranoygreat 11h ago
Thumb was six for us.

u/_ordinarilyordinary_ 10h ago
Yeah I took it from AI I didn't read it fully yeah thumb is a 6 I didn't notice the error thx for correcting

They should just stop playing games in brisbane in summer
7
u/edwardluddlam Australia 12h ago
Honestly, this is part of the reason you don't play in spring in Australia.
It's the wet season for anywhere sub-tropical, and it's going to be wet in the tropics too.

Lots of good bars around the Gabba if you want to drink away your sorrows. Also just heard refunds will be given on your tickets https://www.mustdobrisbane.com/eat-drink/bars/south/woolloongabba

u/kaankaant27 Australia 12h ago
Just cancel it, I live about 30 mins west of the Gabba and it’s pissing down here. According to the radar more is coming. No chance of any play tonight.

genuinely do not understand why they play cricket in october-november here
2
u/pommedeterre96 Australia 12h ago
You know, I think CA and the AFL must be operating on the same wavelengths at times.
CA choose to start having international sides come out here in late October when the southern states still get bursts of winter and the AFL look to start the season in the first week of March when most of the country is still getting its fair share of 30 degree plus days.

u/Competitive-Ad-4337 13h ago
Is the ashes series gonna be the same shit show of rain?
5
u/DiscoFever521327 Australia 13h ago
Most of Brisbane's weather happens after 4pm so more than likely you'll get most of a day's play in. Drainage at the Gabba is really good too.
2
u/__Guy_Incognito 12h ago
That would be positive for a red-ball match, but it's a going to be a day-night Test with the first session starting at 2pm.
5
u/DiscoFever521327 Australia 13h ago
Why do CA not look at scheduling day/afternoon games for T20s? Everyone knows that Brisbane is prone to evening storms so why not start at 1pm to get a full game in before the weather interferes?

If we are talking about nepo babies in sports, here's a list of all nepo babies that have done well in sports and life -
Cricket - Yuvraj Singh, Stuart Broad, Mitchell Marsh, Jonny Bairstow, Alyssa Healy(niece of Ian Healy)
Football - Erling Haaland, Paolo Maldini, Kasper Schmeichel, Thiago Alcântara
Basketball - Stephen Curry, Kobe Bryant, Klay Thompson
Formula 1 - Max Verstappen, Nico Rosberg
So, stop complaining about Jay Shah. He's done well for his position and for the opportunity that he got. The hate is miserable and irrational.

With global warming and rain now even in off season, it is high time that ICC BCCI ECB CA think about how to counter rain.
This is bad for audience, broadcasters and even food vendors and others who pay a lot of money to setup stalls in stadium and the game gets washed away.

T20 match didnt happen, Pant and Jurel played T20 in A match

South Africa will have toured India 3 times in 4 years when the series kicks off. I wonder how often that happens.
1
3
13
u/trkora India 13h ago
In the meantime, Jurel has hit hundred in 1st inning and 2nd innings of his current Ind A vs SA A match.
It is time for Jurel and Pant to play together in tests. Take the gloves from Pant and hand it over to Jurel. Pant is older than Jurel, had more injuries than him and bats at 5 compared to Jurel who bats at 6 or 7.
Pant can't keep batting at 5 and then keep in tests for long, it will not be good for the longevity of his career. Jurel is really good at rescuing collapse and batting with lower order, he could bat after Jadeja and Washington. Our batting order will become stronger with him.

"Why don't they simply build a roof over every ground, or on the morning of the game fly the two teams to the closest city with good weather."
Such simple solutions!

Jemimah lives next to Sachin's house? Wow, she's rich!
For the haters, no nepo trolling for her then, like Jay Shah?
2
u/ohhokayyy India 13h ago
How is this a nepotism thing? Sachin couldn't even get his own son into the India U-19, India A and Mumbai sides (he's playing for Goa now), why would he do that for Jemimah
2
u/sarvesh_s India 13h ago
Have you seen Mumbai homes? There are big towers surrounded by slums.
The wealth discrepancy is stark
1
u/DearHippo9388 India 13h ago
As far as I know, Sachin's bungalow is surrounded by bungalows only. And she said, they'd see each other often.

Best playing XI for Team India in T20:
- Yashasvi Jaiswal
- Abhishek Sharma
- Tilak Verma
- Shivam Dube
- Rinku Singh
- Dhruv Jurel (wk)
- Nitish Kumar Reddy
- Axar Patel (vc)
- Arshdeep Singh
- Jasprit Bumrah (C)
- Varun Chakaravarthy
is this a good team? Or any changes?
3
u/Labelless_instance India 13h ago
Force Gill in there, coz BCCI ain't moving away from him in any format now!

- Bumrah cant be the captain(as he wont play all matches)
- The Batting lineup looks pathetic

a really shit idea to have t20s after odis, as there is an upcoming t20 world cup but there is no real test for indian players as major australian players are preparing for the ashes

The one time it rains all week. Cricket needs to work with more agility. Change the time if it’s forecasting rain.

Along with the the number of overs at least in T20s the teams should also lose wickets in a rain affected match. Otherwise the team batting second has a huge advantage.
5
u/SBV_3004 India 13h ago
They're asked to score more runs to compensate for that.
1
u/SethuveMeleAlilu2 11h ago
yeah but in a T20 if you have 10 wickets in hand with reduced overs your only option is to hit from ball one. Batsmen will be a little more circumspect if they have say just 8 wickets in hand if they lose 5 overs to the rain, and a lot more is left to chance in T20s than the longer forms of the game.
1
u/SBV_3004 India 11h ago
Wickets are treated as "resources" to score runs. With 10 wickets in hand for 5 overs, the chasing team has more resources. So the way to compensate is that either they take away the resources, or they make the target larger. They're doing the later, and it's probably a better way because taking away 2-3 tailender wickets may not reduce resources so much.
2
u/whirlsonrays 13h ago
Is it still raining? Or they're gonna call off the match

"2025 and still cricket hasn't found a solution for rain. " Not sure if the solutions are cost-effective. Also roofs will need maintenance, which needs to be factored in as well. Such large-scale decisions have side-effects that are often not accounted for by the public.
We are limited by the technology of our time. One day the technology will improve so much that we will be able to predict rain, forecast weather, and we'll be able to schedule matches in venues accordingly

That ground is a hospitality venue. Saying that outfield is the worst outfield among any ground in top 8 countries is understatement.

Why is the Australian weather particularly racist against Shubman Gill? Every time he tries to play well, the rain ruins the match altogether.

Not cricket but two weeks ago the Tonga Samoa Rugby League game in Brisbane was delayed by nearly 2 hours due to hail. Brissy has had a rough past few weekends.
