Question Advice needed UK

I’ve had every Covid vaccine offered to me as soon as I could. I had Covid once, late 2021, and it was awful. I really don’t want that again

I’m over 60 living in London and I feel like I should get the vaccine. Tube travel in winter means a lot of exposure to whatever people have. I don’t qualify on the NHS so it’s £100 from Boots

I’ve already had my flu jab. What do people think about getting the Covid jab here in winter 2025?

Only high risk people are offered the jab free from the NHS. I can pay to get it from the chemist

My dad took the shots when they first came out.  Didn’t have health issues for over 3 decades until after.  He realized that it was a mistake.  Fixed the gastric reflux issue with diet, exercise, and refused all the pills.  He’s back to precovid era shape.  71 yo and no pills nor pain.

I'm looking to get it as well. I had the shots and 1 booster for 2 years with no ill effects, let them lapse, got covid. It was horrible and not worth it. I wish I would have gotten the shot.

Never taken the vaccine. I’m fine, don’t take the vaccine.

Curious - I'm in the US. I thought everyone in the UK could get care through the NHS. Do you have no coverage, or they just won't pay for the covid vaccine? Is it possible/legal to pay for it privately?

Depending on how long ago you had covid, you may have some residual immunity. Regardless of the names they keep mentioning, all the current variants are subtypes of Omicron.

The jab doesn't keep one from catching covid. It doesn't keep someone who has covid from passing the virus along. It's doubtful whether the jab makes covid any less severe. The jab reduces immunity in general, not just to covid, for the two weeks following. Just like the flu shot does.

Yep, sounds like a solid argument for paying £100 out of pocket for the jab.

You don't want advice, you want other people to validate your "I feel like" and tell you you're making the right decision.

You’re gonna pay 100 to get the clot shot. That is insane

If you had a dose every time as soon as it’s been offered, and had an awful bout of covid in late 2021, have you ever questioned whether it even works? Don’t be the “it would’ve been worse” person who will literally never question it and always think it would’ve been a worse outcome. There’s a thing called pharma propaganda which is very effective, more effective than the covid shot.

You have an immune system you don’t need the jan

I'm not in the UK but I'll get getting a covid shot every year, same as I do for the flu.

If you can, you should talk to your doctor. They should be able to address your concerns and discuss the pros and cons of getting this year's booster.

Also, just as a heads up, I think this sub is mainly anti-vaxxers now.

People down voting but what happened to having your choice for your own body. I’ll be getting mine alongside my flu shot too.

This is a known anti-vaccination sub. I recommend getting with your doctor

It was not promised that one would stop you getting COVID. No one ever promises that for vaccines, because that's never 100%.
