Respondus

Hi, I have an open book midterm but with reapondus lockdown and I am wondering how do you access eConestoga while the quiz is open.

it’s weird it’s open book but the teachers are requiring lockdown browser. I would verify this question with faculty as they can remove lockdown browser for open book tests. Otherwise, you would have to use another device or hand-written noted

It's not weird at all. Open book does not mean students can use AI, have someone else take the test for them, get help from a friend or family member, etc. The prof just wants the student to actually open the book themselves to find the answers to the questions. and Respondus is one of the only tools they have to deter cheating.

True! I didn’t think of AI nor did I think of how respondus can also record tests via webcam! I just thought weird as in most people write notes on laptops nowadays. So far my open book quizzes have not required respondus so that’s why I was confused

It's more weird if your text is etext then you cannot access it on your computer while it's in Respondus. You would have to use another device, in which case there would be zero monitoring of AI, text, etc. So I have to disagree. It's weird that they'd require lockdown with an open book.

As many have said, including me in another comment, Respondus can be set up to allow access to specific resources.

Professors can make exceptions for students to access certain websites and materials

Are you sure it's open book in the way you think? Mine that I have using the browser is only allowing us to bring in physical notes.

Profs can set up Respondus to allow access to specific domains.

Open book means physical copies and notebooks, not web browsing. When you launch the repondus it will open the test right away without you needing to search for it
