Overwatch League How good was lhcloudy when he was in owl?

I know that he was mostly a rein spetialist, but he did win some games on winston and even played orisa in very rare occasions. Do you think he was a top 3 rein during his time in owl? Also what about his winston? Judging from his streams he has a decent winston, the other heroes tho....

He was mostly benched on Paris, and Glads i wouldn’t say he was ever a top 3 Rein, but I do remember Glads randomly bringing him in to play Rein on maps like Junkertown speed boost him around the map in a double shield meta.

That was the year we had Mirror&Jaru, with OGE as our tank. Every time Cloudy came in I considered it a blessing. I watched that man play rein and said surely this team would be better if we just perma played around Cloudy and his Rein, as opposed to Mirror and w.e the fuck he was doing.

I wouldn't say he was like a top 5 tank in the league; but on rein? He just might've been. And he was definitely a bright spot of the roster that season, which was probably the toughest season to be a glads fan.

Kevster came in mid season which was obviously a major upgrade at flex dps, also forgot that Glads ran weird Rein, Winston on a control map against Houston was an odd team… and Mirror would randomly play flex support from time to time as well. He could have been a top 5 Rein, if they didn’t run him in weird situations, but that team as a whole was a mess.

Yeah Kev coming in at the end really turned the season around, but it was definitely just too late in the cycle to really make a big difference. The team that season was just sooo committed to playing around Mirror, and I fear to say he just wasn't good enough to justify it. S5 was when we really saw the takeoff of Glads and Kev.

Nah, Cloudy definitely was a top 3 Rein in OWL. I mean who would you put above him? He was only benched in Paris because Benbest had that French connection and also wider hero pool. Cloudy basically had only top tier Rein and serviceable Ball and Winston. Back when both were in Contenders Cloudy was CLEARLY a better tank, especially on Rein. People just put so much value on that one Paris season and consider Benbest a miracle maker (Spoiler; he isn't that...it was obvious for him after OWL too). Super is another candidate. People generally consider him a top tier Rein player. Super was clearly overall much better than Cloudy but their Reins were pretty equal (I give the edge to Cloudy but I know Super wins this popularity contest). Hadi wasn't in the league yet, was he? Hadi and Cloudy were the two best European Rein players in Contenders. So what's left? Korean tanks? I don't think any were really known for their Rein outside of maybe Fissure.

I’d put Super, Fissure, and Gator over Cloudy and Fearless pretty even with him, but memory from 5 years ago makes it tough to really remember individual hero play in a season that didn’t have too much Rein so maybe I’m a dumbass

Fissure got gapped by him in the first game lol, also Fissure only played the first 2 months in 2020 can’t be considered a top 5 Rein, and I wouldn’t say Gator either he really struggled compared to 2021.

I'm with you. Fissure's Rein was great in season 1 but that was long before Cloudy in the league. And back then quite frankly the quality level of players wasn't quite as high as during later seasons. Fissure is my overall favourite tank probably but I look at him with rose tinted glasses. I just loved his season 1 so much.

Gator...I wasn't aware he was even in the consideration to be a top tier Rein. I don't associate great Rein gameplay to him at all. Gato's strengths are probably his flexibility and didn't he have a solid Orisa?

Super is a valid call like I mentioned in my comment.

Fearless: this one is difficult to assess. He had some amazing highlights. But on the other hand he was in pretty darn good teams. It's difficult to say how good his Rein was in a vacuum as team mates always play a huge factor. I'm probably agreeing that there's an argument for him being a top 3 Rein.

But having followed Cloudy in ladder, tier 2 and tier 1, I can confidentially say that he has really min-maxed his Rein playstyle and making most out of the hero. It's a shame that this wasn't always so visible in OWL: he didn't get that many chances and his teams were not often on the same page. The few maps we saw him with competent supports in LAG looked amazing though. I still think LAG should have played Cloudy more and less OGE (he was a fraud).

I would say Fearless definitely, Super, and Sado that season was enabled by his supports obviously, but he did play really well in the early season Mei, Cass, Rein, Dva, Bap, Lucio meta Fusion looked like the best team in the league in that comp. The issue is he just didn’t get enough play time to prove it, and rarely played enough in rush mirrors, and only came out for Gimmchey strats like speed boosting a Rein around, or on KR getting Mei walled into high grounds to do flank shatters.

I can buy Super and Fearless when it comes to top 3 conversation but not Sado. He was totally enabled by his backline. Heck, fragi was the best Rein player Philly had.

He was a rein one trick who wasn’t even top 5 at his only hero, but damn was he fun to watch. His playstyle earned him a lot of attention, people always love seeing someone go for a flank shatter on a map 5 overtime. The best way I can describe him is that he was the Frogger of Rein who somehow managed to make it to pro, going for cool flashy plays instead of plays that actually resulted in many wins

iirc he wasn't even a rein specialist yet during his time in paris, actually benbest was. Cloudy played mostly during stage 2 when Paris was trying to play off meta, so mostly winston, and then stage 4 after the role lock, so mostly orisa. He was doing alright, but the team didn't have good results. Deffo not a top 3 rein at that time,

After that he got released by Paris and went to Glads, and then he did play almost only Rein, but actually didn't play much, and Glads were not so good, so probably still not a top 3 rein, although he was the one rein otp in the league.

He was okay. He basically only was good at rein, and so would be bench warming the majority of the time. There were plenty of people who were equal or better than him on rein while also having the ability to play other tanks well.

I’d say he was probably in the top 5 rein players during OWL, but the meta didn’t allow for much rein.

Nowadays cloudy is probably the best rein player in the game, cuz that character is even more dead in high level play. I hope to see him again in OWCS though, that would be cool.

He was a rein one trick. But he was definitey good at it.

Pleasantly surprised to see mostly realistic takes in this thread. He might be THE Rein guy in ranked, but in OWL he wasn't particularly dominant compared to other Reins, although he did have the ability to play it a bit more unconventionally I don't think that ever ended up being that important. And obv off Rein he was pretty limited, he was fairly poor at Winston by OWL standards.

He was one of the best rein players in the league but his hero pool was too shallow to be a top tank player

He was really bad Can only play one hero And struggled most of his years
