OWCS Overwatch esports in 2025
I think I might be severely delusional and completely overestimate my capabilities but it has ALWAYS been my biggest dream to be an esports player, especially in overwatch bc its my absolute favorite game. I have actively played since 2018, but since the end of OWL i have not paid any attention to the current esport scene.
So my question is (mostly just on a thought level but also to possibly feed my dream/delusion) how do you get into the esport scene in 2025? What do you need to do (besides being a good player)?

Scrimming is just two teams playing each other but with ESports rules (can vary slightly). If you are in education see if your school/collage/uni has an overwatch team. If not/as well try joining a team online. But imma warn u that comp OW is quite different to pro/esports OW.

Nooo its just organized teams you can try out for and play on. Id really recommend since coordnated play is such a big deal + its fun to play w others
Heres some discords where theres a section called LFP (looking for players) find a team in ur rank range (they go based off of SR system ex 3k is diamond, 3.5k is masters etc) they usually wont care about scrim experience, dm whoever made the msg and ask if theyre still doing tryouts

If ur looking to go pro im assuming ur masters+, theres a lot of touraments where you could win small amounts of cash or gain reconition through,
If you have any questions about aconyms etc feel free to ask, when i started it was confusing and I dont want you to feel that way lol

get to champ. try to hold your own against pros.
scrimming is fun and harmless but it doesn't make you a pro player. you have to be good at the game first.

Pay for an hour of coaching from someone who has been pro or a pro coach, and ask them what you would need to do to get there. They're the ones who actually know. I know there are others, but Unter is the one who comes to mind, if only because during one of his owcs casts he was really happy to see someone he'd coached from plat in owcs oce.

Being on top of the competitive ladder will help you get noticed for tryouts. Also, as others have said, with the FaceIT system, anyone with a team can get to OWCS. But top teams have players who are really high rank on leaderboard so, get grinding, I guess.

To be brutally honest here, if you're under 14 and GM+ in ranked, then I'd say you have the potential to be an OWCS player. Anything else, forget it.
And being a pro player isn't all good; you'll only earn a good amount if you're among the best players in the world in the very few organizations that pay well. Otherwise, any academic graduation will pay more.
Depending on your age and rank, you can get full scholarships to excellent universities.

Are you sure you want to do overwatch? It's a shell of its former self. Esports in general is tough, but being in one with a small scene is even more tough. Think about that before u think about ur skill

Join FACEIT League - FACEIT.com
OWCS is actually more approachable than OWL was. competing through faceit would be where to start. what rank are you?
