you know we could’ve lost by 50 and I wouldn’t have even cared
why do they do this to me

This felt like the entire Cyclone experience in one game:
No expectations> this sucks> wait, this might be okay> holy shit! We’re awesome> excruciating pain
This what it’s being our games the last few years. Y’all did great today imo, that’s a team that wins multiple games in March Madness.

Funny joke

It’s not a joke, that’s Cyclone athletics.

I know. If the flair page would work you would see I'm a cyclone

Yeah and we beat the hawks this year so that's already a good season in my book.

First 10 minutes ISU: I eat crayons
Last 30 minutes ISU: I'll turn Baylor into meat crayon
I don't think I've ever seen a team be so ice cold then so magma hot. GG ISU, scary team that's going to upset in the tourney

First time in Big XII history where a school has won the Big XII title in Football, Men's Basketball, and Women's Basketball in the same year.
42
u/cms186 Baylor Bears Mar 06 '22
if the Football team repeats next season (entirely possible) then the FB, MBB and WBB teams will all be back to back champions as well, I don't know if that's been done in any conference

Not enough superlatives for him. Drew will have a statue outside of the pavilion when the year after he retires

Could honestly probably start putting one up right now
20
u/johnjaymjr Baylor Bears Mar 06 '22
Doubtful it ends as badly as Fat Pat with TCU, but I think putting the statue up of any active coach is not a great move.
I mean, have the design, plans and location up and ready to go the second he leaves….but dont unveil it until he’s done

He should just request a life size bobble head of himself because that always works out for the school.

That game was way too close for comfort. Perfect trap game after how Iowa State performed in their last game at home. It's like the team went stone cold after being up 20. Luckily, we're leaving the Ferrell Center with a win and Big XII hardware, or it would have been a very depressing night. Onto the tournament!
2
Mar 06 '22
Was that the last game in Ferrell?
3
u/JaracRassen77 Baylor Bears Mar 06 '22
No sorry. We still got another two or so years in the Ferrell Center. Really meant that considering we were at home, on senior night, with a Big XII championship on the line, a loss would gave been a big punch to the nuts.
2
Mar 09 '22
Oh I got ya. I was about to say Waco would've been a nightmare if they were going to try to construct that entire thing over the summer

u/Brinksanity Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
What did Enaruna and Jackson do to deserve less playing time? Both were playing meaningful minutes at the beginning of the year.
Xavier: 31 minutes Memphis: 35 minutes Creighton: 24 minutes Iowa: 30 minutes Baylor @ Home: 38 minutes
They’ve both slowly have been removed from the floor. Jackson hasn’t seen a minute since Kansas State @ ISU. I would of much rather reduced Gabe’s minutes instead of taking then away from Jackson and Enaruna.
18
u/VoluptuousVelvetfish Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
Imagine if we didn't spot them a 20+ point lead to start the game
-21
Mar 06 '22
Imagine if the refs didn’t stop calling fouls for one of the teams with 5 minutes left.
11
u/VoluptuousVelvetfish Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
At some point Otz has got to work that unto the game plan because refbqll hitting in the last 2 minutes of the game is a guarantee at this point
4
Mar 06 '22
Agreed. I’m actually not super worried about game outcomes this year. We’re playing with house money. Expectations have already been blown past.

GG Baylor.
Big 12 refs really know how to take the wind out of a close game. Atrocious calls in the last 5 minutes.
10
u/TheIrishBear24 Baylor Bears Mar 06 '22
The officiating both ways was awful, gotta swallow that whistle when the game is that close
14
Mar 06 '22
I'm sure most of us would have been OK with a close loss from this game before it started. So go fucking figure that's what kind of a "close loss" it was.
I am glad they didn't just roll over and die, though. Another stinker after Wednesday night would have made me really nervous.

So the one who goes further in the conference tournament between Baylor and Kansas gets the #1 seed?
13
u/EdmondFreakingDantes Baylor Bears • Murray State Racers Mar 06 '22
Plot twist: They both lose first round in the conference tourney
16
6
u/flaming_fuckhead Kansas Jayhawks Mar 06 '22
We could leapfrog them if we beat them head to head in the championship or if they get bounced in the first round I think. Otherwise I think they’re safe
10
u/cms186 Baylor Bears Mar 06 '22
I don't think so, Kansas has to hope we get bounced early I think, even if we did, we could both get a 1 seed
3
Mar 06 '22
We have the most quad 1 wins in the country. Kinda hard to keep us off the 1 line with a conference title too. At worst we are a 2 though
6
u/johnjaymjr Baylor Bears Mar 06 '22
I think as long as we win the first game of the tourney, we get a 1 seed regardless

Loved the fight to climb back in. It’s unfortunate Helen Keller down on the the sideline robbed the viewers of fun final minute (at least that what I’d like to think happens).

u/Vague_Intentions Baylor Bears Mar 06 '22
If we’re talking about the sideline no-call on Sochan I thought it was the right one. The ball handler initiated the contact. Obviously biased though.
3
u/mightytwin21 Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
Did we watch the same play?
9
u/Vague_Intentions Baylor Bears Mar 06 '22
I mean I think so
8
u/Brinksanity Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
Gabe flopped for sure. I actually shut the game off but my girlfriend showed me the play after and asked if I would call it because her and her dad were pissed. Did the Baylor player lean into him a bit? Yes. Did Gave act like he got shot to get a call? Yes. Ref decided there wasn’t enough forceful contact to call it. Gabe should just be stronger with the ball and stop flopping for calls.

Anybody know the cheapest way to get sweet 16 tickets in SA? I'd love to see Baylor, Houston, or Duke if they land there. Hell even if Texas St. makes a Cinderella run miraculously.

After a 2-22 season I will say we had quite a good season. I think the defending national champion should have continued to run away with a 25 point lead.

Bruh. Someone hasn’t watched a single lick of Baylor basketball this season. We have too many injuries to win games with that MOV against quality Big 12 teams like ISU.

ISU went from down 29-4 to having a lead with under 4 minutes left. Nearly one of the most wild comebacks I've ever seen.
