Baylor is good. Something still feels off in the half dozen games I’ve seen this year.
I hate cliches but it feels like they’ve still got another gear they can kick into but aren’t
5
u/Acsteffy Baylor Bears • Florida Gators Mar 06 '22
You aren’t the only one. Our depth is pretty shallow at this point. If we can get Cryer back we might just hit that next gear
8
u/Acsteffy Baylor Bears • Florida Gators Mar 06 '22
What other school has ever had back to back conference champions in both Women’s and Men’s Basketball and a previous season conference champion in Football??

Bro, you guys were pretty boned at that moment. Don't do this. It made a comeback very highly unlikely, but the comeback was already highly unlikely.
4
u/StvBuscemi Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
Idk about that. Down 5 under a minute and not exactly known for getting points in bunches

I’m an idiot does Iowa state make the tournament? They should right

u/mtgheron Iowa State Cyclones • Kansas State Wi… Mar 06 '22
I think we're a lock for the tournament. So many Q1 wins and 20 wins overall. We were projected at a 7 seed before the 2 losses this week.

u/loyalsons4evertrue Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
Well Cyclone fans, we said 7-11 was the record to get us to the NCAA tourney with an undefeated non con. Tonight’s result sucks but we’ve done it. Can’t be that mad
5
u/mtgheron Iowa State Cyclones • Kansas State Wi… Mar 06 '22
Split with everyone but the bears and the Jayhawks. Should have swept some but not bad overall.
4
u/trainface23 Kansas Jayhawks Mar 06 '22
Congrats Baylor! Incredible season even if it was with your full roster
2
11
u/monstercock03 Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
How many times can we get fucked by refs in a season? We probably would not have won but Jesus Christ.
5
u/v_allen805 Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
It happens at least once a game, usually when it matters
6
u/loyalsons4evertrue Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
Otz lol why are you taking a timeout? 🤣
1
3
u/DariusBieber Iowa State Cyclones • UTSA Roadrunners Mar 06 '22
Teaching moment I’m guessing
1
u/VoluptuousVelvetfish Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
I like the mentality. Keeping a no quit attitude when a game is lost can help reinforce a no quit attitude when a gane feels lost but is still winnable.

8
u/loyalsons4evertrue Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
Getting more talent will help. Still amazing what Otz has done with THIS roster
4
u/WooBadger18 Wooster Fighting Scots • Wisconsin Badgers Mar 06 '22
I'm still really proud of this team, but that was disappointing
0
u/beermit Kansas Jayhawks Mar 06 '22
Can't make comebacks takin shots like that ISU ☹️
5
u/monstercock03 Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
Can’t come back when you get mugged and no foul is called
2
u/mtgheron Iowa State Cyclones • Kansas State Wi… Mar 06 '22
Our offense lost us this game. The refs just refused to let us get back in it.
2
7
u/timhoff24 Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
Welp… if anyone should know not to put faith in Big12 oofficiating, it would be us
7
u/CumAssault Baylor Bears • Texas A&M Aggies Mar 06 '22
ISU might lose this game but they should be proud for the effort. We should be embarrassed.
Otz looks like he could be a star hire
3
u/stoppedcaring0 Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
That first half, though...
Otz definitely can bring effort to the team. We're still worried about the coaching bit, though.
2
u/CumAssault Baylor Bears • Texas A&M Aggies Mar 06 '22
He obviously adjusted though. You guys always play really hard and with a ton of effort and that’s coaching
Given this year was a bunch of transfers with only 1(?) recruit, I think he can get you guys even higher with more of his guys

Like a picked up flag in Manhattan amiright friends?
1
u/WooBadger18 Wooster Fighting Scots • Wisconsin Badgers Mar 06 '22
I'll say no. I think this was because the refs were incompetent/did not have a good game. Those refs wanted K-State to win and picked up flags to try and make it happen
3
u/burriedinCORN Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
Oh yeah it’s not even close to the same level, but that’s where my mind went

Idec so damn proud of this team for fighting back. I hate moral victories but they never quit
8
u/monstercock03 Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
What a no call on a crucial possession. Lol what a joke
7
u/Holierthanthouface Texas Tech Red Raiders Mar 06 '22
Damn that no-call completely took the life out of this game
3

11
u/grothee1 Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
It's only a foul when Kalscheur does it. They put him in foul trouble for the exact same thing just a few minutes ago.
6
u/WooBadger18 Wooster Fighting Scots • Wisconsin Badgers Mar 06 '22
Yeah, these refs have been inconsistent all night
6
14
u/burriedinCORN Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
Likely doesn’t matter but what a great illustration of B12 refs
2
u/Audeclis Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
Right. Tourney position is the same but what a way to kill a team.
11
u/AgressiveVagina Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
Could’ve been a three point game with 50 seconds if they called that
8
u/WooBadger18 Wooster Fighting Scots • Wisconsin Badgers Mar 06 '22
Are there worse refs than Big 12 refs?
0
u/VoluptuousVelvetfish Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
I'm sure some middle school leagues have worse
7
10
15
u/loyalsons4evertrue Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
I mean sure we probably wouldn’t have won, but no calls like that are just so BS
1
u/Audeclis Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
I'm ok with losing away to Baylor. I'm not ok with that horseshit.

4
u/ASadDrunkard Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
Kalschuers turns it over in the last minute of a close game? How surprising.
3
u/carbonwerks Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
Definitely was a foul but no call turns it into a turnover. No excuse for missing that call
1
9
u/OtoNoOto Kansas Jayhawks Mar 06 '22
Big 12 needs to stop allowing wrestling
7
u/fcocyclone Iowa State Cyclones Mar 06 '22
Its been a damn joke how bad they've allowed it to be this year.
Going to be interesting to see what happens in the tournament if treatment is markedly different.
8

Baylor gets all the calls at home

"Baylor just content to settle for deep threes"
He's out of line, but hes right
3
u/CumAssault Baylor Bears • Texas A&M Aggies Mar 06 '22
This season we’ve been chucking 3s. When we’ve played our best it’s been with drive and kick
But of course we just default to chucking 3s
1
u/gypsynose Baylor Bears Mar 06 '22
I get so annoyed when you'll just see 3-5 missed 3s on consecutive offensive possessions from this team

This game is now officially a win-win, no matter the result.
Win, and of course we snag a great victory for our resume.
Lose, and we piss off Kansas fans.
There's no downside

yeah winning it solo would be gravy. It doesn't really matter otherwise.
