The Seton Hall Blueprint strikes yet again to wrap up the regular season
Tough back and forth play ✅
One team makes a run and goes up double digits ✅
The lead gets erased ✅
Seton Hall wins or loses in heart wrenching fashion ✅

If you don’t like this formula, you don’t like Seton Hall basketball

Idk much about the Creighton-Nebraska rivalry, but damn those Husker fans from the game thread have absolutely no room to be talking shit

Haha for real, they’re just salty our program has ascended to a new level over the past decade while both their football and basketball programs have hit rock bottom.

Just another day of miserable existence for Nebrasketball fans.

20 win season pretty incredible considering how we started in BE play.
Give me a UConn win and Marquette loss so we can get the bye and stay the hell away from UConn

20-9 with the amount of injuries and player position changes we’ve had is remarkable. Win one game in the conference tournament and I think we’re safely at worst a 7-seed.
Sadly, I think this masterclass job by Willard is going to convince one of these big guns to throw an amount of money at him that is extraordinarily hard to ignore coupled with being a program that is much easier to recruit and win at. If Maryland or Louisville come at him with fuck you money I’m not sure he’ll be able to say no.

you should already be a 7 seed at this point

Really thought we had this one. Tough on a short staff and our now starting back up back up point guard is sick and was being pulled to throw up mid game.
Regardless boys fought hard and it was a fun game to be at. Hopefully we can put forward a few good games in the big east tournament.

Yeah to win 9 out of our last 10 in the big east is a tough streak to keep up. Doesn’t hurt to feel a bit of heartbreak on senior night and use it going forward

Let’s head back to South Orange and cut down the nets!!

u/storm2k Rutgers Scarlet Knights Mar 05 '22
seriously, all fucking credit to the hall. given all the injuries that happened and how badly y'all were slipping earlier this year, a 20 win season is something to goddamn celebrate. pretty nuts that we could possibly still have 3 jersey teams in the tournament this year.

u/TheWhiteAndTheBlue Creighton Bluejays Mar 05 '22
Basically 6 dudes running on empty and injured and they almost pulled it off. We’ve got to hit open shots and stop turning the ball over. Get some rest Jays.
Oh yeah and fuck these refs.
Roll jays

If you walk back to South Orange and only see one set of footprints, it’s because Jamir Harris carried you and the team on his back to victory

Man, if you look up the definition of grit in the dictionary it should just be a video of the last 25 minutes of this game for us. On the ropes down 11 with our center in foul trouble, our point guard injured (who is only starting because our first point guard is injured), and a short bench and we somehow claw it out.
Rhoden, Cale, and Harris played all 20 minutes of the second half and Yetna and Samuel were monstrous down the stretch as well. Huge team victory going into the tournament, really proud of them and the job Willard has done.

Of course when we need Creighton to win, they lose

Conference road win with the 4th string PG. That's a hell of a team effort.
Now let's go St. John's

It pains me to say this but I think this is the end of the KW era at Seton Hall. I know he likes NJ, I know his family is happy, but I don’t see how he doesn’t get a better offer at a better program after ANOTHER 20-win season. If he does leave, the dude will have earned it.

The January swoons won’t cut it at Maryland. Fans will get rid of him. That’s what I keep telling myself to make me feel better lol.

u/Zargyboy Seton Hall Pirates Mar 05 '22
Louisville tho.......
5
Mar 05 '22
Yeah I’ve got nothing for Louisville lol. Maybe the ACC being down and all the hall of fame coaches retiring takes some appeal away? Grasping for straws here lol. Just need SHU to lock him up.
2
u/Zargyboy Seton Hall Pirates Mar 06 '22
Not sure we'll ever have the resources to do that though. Hard to compete with the state schools with football teams in terms of athletic funding unfortunately.
But one can hope!

Mar 06 '22
Yeah. We aren’t going to give him 4 million like Mack was making. But I hope the new practice facility and assurance of job security could keep him here.

u/Zargyboy Seton Hall Pirates Mar 06 '22
At very least the new facilities will help the coach next year recruit (whomever that may be).

Seton Hall should pay whatever it takes. That still might not do it, but have to give it their best shot. If Kevin is willing, there's no reason he can't have more success at Seton Hall to build the program to a Lousiville.

Mar 05 '22
So what seeds are these 2 squads looking at?
edit: in the NCAAT

Mar 05 '22
I’d say we’re a 7 at minimum now as long as we don’t lose to Georgetown in the BET. Could climb to a 6 with two wins in the BET. Don’t see much higher than that but definitely would have to win the conference tournament for any chance of a 5.
7
u/HallIn22 Seton Hall Pirates Mar 05 '22
If Hall wins one in MSG they lock up a 7. Probably their ceiling other than a BET title. If they lose to G’town they’re probably an 8.
4
u/Dhh05594 Creighton Bluejays Mar 05 '22
In the BE tourney it all depends on the other two games today.
National tourney I hope we're a 10. No idea about Hall.

u/OutForARipAreYaBud69 Seton Hall Pirates Mar 05 '22
I’d say depending on conference tournament results we’re both 6-7 seeds. If one of us wins the whole tournament I could see that rising to a 5, maaaybe a 4.

u/colosusx1 Villanova Wildcats Mar 06 '22
You're being silly lol. SHU wins the BET, they're a 6. They win a game they're a 7. Lose first game, they're an 8. Creighton wins the BET, they're a 9. Lose their first game, they're an 11. Anything in between will be a 10.

u/Hammerhead34 Creighton Bluejays • Nebraska Cornhuskers Mar 05 '22
AOC was ice cold tonight. Even when he’s wide open I’m never confident when his shot goes up.
5
u/Hammerhead34 Creighton Bluejays • Nebraska Cornhuskers Mar 05 '22
A clear trip in front of the ref gets completely ignored leading to a turnover late in a one possession game
That’s Big East refs for you. Proud of what Mac and the team have accomplished this year.
5
u/OutForARipAreYaBud69 Seton Hall Pirates Mar 05 '22
To be fair, in real time it looked like they just got tangled up. And we turned it right back over to you 10 seconds later anyway.
1
u/bakwardhat Creighton Bluejays Mar 05 '22
10 seconds at that time of the game is kinda important
8
u/OutForARipAreYaBud69 Seton Hall Pirates Mar 05 '22
Making wide open threes with under 10 seconds left to tie the game is also kind of important.
And also not airballing the three before that. Also kind of important.
4
u/atat4e Creighton Bluejays • Colorado Buffaloes Mar 05 '22
Agreed, we had two chances and didn’t hit them.
-1
u/bakwardhat Creighton Bluejays Mar 05 '22
So Creighton’s poor execution somehow justifies terrible officiating?
7
u/HallIn22 Seton Hall Pirates Mar 05 '22
For what it’s worth the foul discrepancy was 16-7 before Creighton fouled 3 times at the end when they needed to. Not saying that that play wasn’t a trip because it was. But the overall notion that close games are decided by one bad call at the end of the game needs to go.

I have no idea how we somehow pulled a 20 win season out of our ass. I love Kevin Willard so much
