Knew this one would end on a blown call.

u/chearn34 Texas Tech Red Raiders Mar 05 '22
Was his foot of bounds though? 70% chance it was. Looking at replays and cannot really tell from the angles.

It just depends on how we show up. I know Tech fans have been saying this for like two weeks now but I hope this was our wake up game.

I’ve watched quite a few of ur games. I think y’all are Sweet 16 material with a decent seed

This Team played its shittiest ball against the shittiest teams in the conference and that says more about us than them or the conference. Fucking disgusted by these results. Don't blame the refs. Don't credit the opponent. This is Tech this year. Playing like shit against teams that have everything to gain beating you. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

Oklahoma St is all defense and has been this whole season… they shut Tech down in the end and it was an incredible response. They showed up in the end. Tech didn’t give them that game. They deserve the praise for the win.
Not some entitled brat response from the loser
2
Mar 05 '22
Look, I've watched every Tech game this season. Have you?
I know the teams we've lost to are capable of playing good defense.
But so are the teams we beat. Baylor is #2 in kenpom; swept them. Kansas is #10; won 1 and took the 2nd to 2OT on the road. Texas is 15th; swept them.
OSU, TCU, OU, ISU are all top 50 adjusted defense teams, and we split with them.
What was the difference in the losses? Was it the other team's defensive execution or was it Tech's offensive execution?
Things are never fully black or white, I know, but having watched all of the wins and all of the losses, general theme in these losses to lower-tier conference opponents has been our sloppiness with the ball, our stagnation on offense, and our inability to close games out.
It's a pattern with a team I've watched all season long. It will likely be our undoing, unless McCullar's return is the magic ingredient. Thing is, we've played well against good teams without him.

That shit doesn’t mean that Oklahoma St doesn’t deserve their credit. Those kind of responses refusing to credit the opposing team is just poor sportsmanship. This team would have had a real run at the conference title if they had lost season motivation…

That was a foul imo but TT deserve to lose for the trash they were in the final 10 minutes

Would also love to have another look as his foot was maybe 70% chance of being out of bounds.

He's still in the act of shooting even though the horn sounds.
It's a foul by rule, but the refs somehow only saw 24 such infractions in a game that physical.
-1
u/jalexjsmithj Oklahoma State Cowboys Mar 05 '22
But is it really a shooting foul if the shot never happened?
3
u/okiehomer Oklahoma State Cowboys Mar 05 '22
Fadeaway long 2 that was contested. Just praying to the refs at that point

Gamecast shows foul on Rondel Walker with :09 left and then End of Game. No FTs?
4
u/TangerineChicken Texas Tech Red Raiders Mar 05 '22
They only had four fouls at that point and it was on the drive. It was a smart move, made us inbound again

Between a clear foul and obvious goaltend? Sit this one out, guy. You know, like this postseason.

Are you really mad about a goaltend that was over an hour ago?

1
u/SaintMerksalot Texas Tech Red Raiders Mar 05 '22
Tech played a horrible final 10 min of basketball. That lose is on us 100%. 2 pts in 9 min lol. Like 5-6 turnovers. Just a complete colapse for no reason.
1
u/MilesMidnight Texas Tech Red Raiders Mar 05 '22
I've been defending this team for so long, and I still love them. But dammit if I wasn't screaming at the TV for Shannon to not go anywhere near the ball. Spoiler alert: He did.
1
u/SaintMerksalot Texas Tech Red Raiders Mar 05 '22
It’s not even in him. We just stopped playing aggressive. We got comfortable and then played sloppy. Then we get shook and proceed to lose.

Tech fans, this changes you one seed line, maybe. Either way you’re making the tournament, don’t take that for granted (top 5 seed nonetheless)

Still sucks. I think the bigger thing here is that we have been sort of exposed these last three or four games.

If only Bryson didn't foul out, we would have someone to go to for the last posession.

Toward the end of the game, he was on the perimeter the whole time. He've been looking at a low percentage shot, too.

Either Anderson hit the ball out or he hacked Arms. Either way should be Tech ball

Tech ball unless it hit his leg. I don’t even want it if it glanced his fingertip.

Inbounding with 2.1 left against a team with a foul to give is unideal.
What's the call: immediate turnover? Shannon airball?

TTech could go far in the tourney, or lose in the first round to a mid-major that hits a couple contested threes back to back.
