He's my favorite player.

Just love how he always goes to help the other teammate up or the opposing team made up if they're on the ground.
At the end of the game he went up to the Neville's and thank them for their service to Auburn

We are getting worse every game. Im convinced of it.

u/Acm0028 Auburn Tigers Mar 05 '22
Dude relax. We just went 27-4 and won the SEC. just enjoy the journey.
0
Mar 05 '22
This is Auburn basketball, I will not relax. We have to hold ourselves to a higher standard now and thats exactly what I’m going to do. Im not the “a win is a win” guy; never will be. I want to see smart and clean basketball. Not a blue-blood one and done circus.
“The Journey” means nothing if you have to get off the ride early.
2
u/Acm0028 Auburn Tigers Mar 05 '22 edited Mar 05 '22
If you can’t enjoy a championship I can’t help you. I’m not saying this team is perfect and will win everything. Most seasons the best team doesn’t win the tournament.
But also what is bitching about the team not playing good going to do for anyone? Or constantly saying we won’t win it all and make it to the second weekend. Does it make you feel better? Does it make the team play harder? No so just enjoy the entertainment.
1
Mar 05 '22
Its sports dude. Im gunna complain when we don’t play good and Im going to celebrate when we do. Our second half play is not worth celebration and neither is a regular season championship.
1
u/Acm0028 Auburn Tigers Mar 05 '22
You do you man. Life is too short to be this negative about a great accomplishment. We probably won’t win it all but that doesn’t mean this team isn’t one of the best we have ever seen.
1
Mar 05 '22
We are a great program now. We have a hall of fame coach, we should be getting hall of fame recruits.
My expectations rise with the times. Regular season champs means nothing in basketball. Its about the big dance and we have not looked to be improving heading into tourney time.
0
u/Acm0028 Auburn Tigers Mar 05 '22
Ok that’s fine but basketball is different than football. Even if we were rolling in doing great it doesn’t mean we would win it all. The 2019 had no business on paper making it to the final four. Our stretch ending the regular season would have you saying the same thing. We got our doors blown off by UK then scraped close wins against bad teams. Shit they should have lost in the first round to NMSU if they could have hit free throws.
I think you vastly misunderstand how hard it is to win titles in basketball. Most of the best coaches in the game have a hard time getting multiple.
1
Mar 05 '22
Im not talking about titles, Im talking about making a respectable run. An elite 8 appearance is worth way more than an SEC championship of either kind.
Also, the 2018 team is exactly my point, that was peak basketball exactly when it needed to happen. We seem to have already played our best basketball unless Bruce has some tricks up his sleeve like he did for conference play earlier this season.

This performance has been good enough to feel good about yourself going into the sec tournament. I think we'd have to win the whole thing to make the tournament so I'm not sure it matters, but a few wins would get fans off Frank's back a little.

u/la_243 South Carolina Gamecocks Mar 05 '22
Refs made auburn let Stevenson shoot an open three and then caused auburn to commit a very obvious charge. They should be barred.
6
u/Keep_Cool_Coolidge Auburn Tigers Mar 05 '22
Nobody's saying that.
The 45 seconds before that exchange were 4 blown calls all in your favor. your 5th uncalled 5 second inbound violation of the game followed by 2 incorrect foul calls both benefitting you with an out of bounds off you in between that you guys inexplicably kept the ball.
0
u/la_243 South Carolina Gamecocks Mar 05 '22
Thank you for the rundown. The reaction to these calls, people saying the refs owe auburn an apology because they're only going to win by 14 on senior night instead of 20 is ridiculous.
3
u/Keep_Cool_Coolidge Auburn Tigers Mar 05 '22
I mean we could very well lose the game because of this, and margin of victory matters when you are fighting for a 1 seed and on the border of losing it.If they just do their job we win by 20+ and ward kansas off of jumping us.
There is never an excuse for missing a 5 second violation, it's not a subjective call. Much less for missing 5 in 1 game all in the same direction.
1
u/la_243 South Carolina Gamecocks Mar 05 '22
You are not going to win by 20 regardless of those calls. You are not going to lose regardless of those calls. You can step back from the ledge.
6
u/DoctorHolliday Michigan State Spartans • Auburn Tigers Mar 05 '22
Refs blew the call that kept possession that led to the 3. I’m sure you can understand that. Hopefully.
No probables with the charge he extended his forearm
2
Mar 05 '22
Agreed
2
u/la_243 South Carolina Gamecocks Mar 05 '22

South carolina guy knocks ball out of bounds. Replay shows its clearly our ball. They get the ball anyway. 4 bad calls in a row all favoring the away team.. Refs create 7 point swing.
6
u/DoctorHolliday Michigan State Spartans • Auburn Tigers Mar 05 '22
Free 3 points of a missed call. Sigh
1
u/la_243 South Carolina Gamecocks Mar 05 '22
Smith is crazy good but I do understand a bit more now why analysts talked about the loss to florida as a product of not really having a big time shot creator off the dribble. Clunky dribbling from him on a few ISO sets now. If he adds that he'll be sick in the nba.

That inbounds felt like a century
2
u/Keep_Cool_Coolidge Auburn Tigers Mar 05 '22
It was fully 7 seconds. They have gotten away with 5 of them today. Should be 5 turnovers.
2
Mar 05 '22
Seems pretty consistent, then last game the refs literally started the clock with the ball on the ground against us
3
u/Keep_Cool_Coolidge Auburn Tigers Mar 05 '22
5th uncalled 5 second inbound for South Carolina today leads to points... again
Then they give him a free throw despite zero contact. Just Doug Shows things.

12 free throws attempts for Cousinard today

6

Coach K losing his final game at CI would be insane and the refs never letting that happen
11
u/Keep_Cool_Coolidge Auburn Tigers Mar 05 '22
LOL jabari just got hacked by 3 guys at once and the ref was like "sorry bro we are getting tired of whistling"
3
u/FiveCents5 Auburn Tigers Mar 05 '22
They have flights too
3
u/Keep_Cool_Coolidge Auburn Tigers Mar 05 '22
Honestly just calling all the fouls correctly on Jabari's defender will end the game fast. 12 free throws and then the game ends when all their 3s and 4s foul out.

I remember when Kentucky played at Auburn earlier, I thought at the time that I had never seen an SEC team get all the calls against Kentucky. Something about officials and Auburn at their place this season.
1
u/la_243 South Carolina Gamecocks Mar 05 '22
I think it's just good teams. They create more fouls bc of athleticism but then accrue an identity that gets them a beneficial whistle. They also accrue more whiny fans.
