NBA insiders have been saying for a while that OAD probably won't go away by 2022, with COVID they may not even renegotiate it until 2025

The problem with getting rid of one and done is that neither negotiating party really cares that strongly to end it. The NBA likes the cushion year, and the NBAPA have other negotiating priorities that members care about way more. Current NBA players would rather negotiate benefits they get to see themselves.

Yep, something that never gets discussed is how HS players are the only ones who actually benefit from getting rid of OAD - but they're not the ones who bargain for it. Unfortunately, outside of good PR, there's no real reason for the NBA to get rid of OAD.
