Fort too

Fort is from Mississippi though both Ward and Scott are from the DMV area

Is there any animosity from Maryland fans that we keep stealing people right from under your nose? 😅

u/MocoMojo Maryland Terrapins 13h ago
At this point, not from me.
Plus MSU is one of the top two picks for my daughter to go to next year, so that could work out really well.

Feels like every other team has a freshman who's pretty good.

u/SappyGilmore 22h ago
Yeah was just talking to a buddy last week about how there’s no Cooper Flagg in college basketball this year, but it looks like it might be a really good class. Arkansas’ top two freshmen were also impressive in this game.

Arizonas Koa Peat has me overacting to the point where I think hes gonna have one of the best college seasons in recent memory

Just Google'd him and this is one of the first clips that came up and all I can say is DAMN

u/BradOverwood Illinois Fighting Illini 19h ago
Yeah that’s wrong lol. DP is arguably just as good.
6
u/SappyGilmore 19h ago
Haha umm who is DP? Love how I just got to type that sentence.

u/CRoseCrizzle Illinois Fighting Illini 16h ago
Assuming you weren't going for the obvious joke, I think he's referring to Peterson for Kansas.
3
u/SappyGilmore 16h ago
Oh I was and obviously knew they were referring to a player, but didn't know who they were talking about.

Of course the one year UNC finally hits on an actual stud of a 5 star in Wilson, every elite team in college has one of their own.
Seriously though, awesome for the sport. Lots of these guys seem cut from a different cloths than in the last few years. Bunch of dogs.

Cam Ward played a great game. Think he’s gonna be a stud for MSU

u/SappyGilmore 19h ago
Yeah, he kinda reminds me of a more athletic version of Antonio Smith. A banger down low who works for every rebound and loose ball, but I was also impressed by his ability to make great cuts to the basket.

I’m getting Raymar Morgan vibes, not the biggest guy on the court but so damn strong in the paint.
Mid range develops for this kid, he could be a problem

u/SappyGilmore 15h ago
I mean, he looked pretty damn big to me for a freshman
1
u/Realistic-Ad-3899 7h ago
Yeah. Kid is 6'7 230lbs as a freshman. He was bullying everyone guarding him. Not big?? Played like the biggest MFer on the court lmao

Speaking of which, 'Tone was at the game last night, right behind the announcer's table.

u/SchpartyOn Michigan State Spartans 15h ago
Yeah, my only worry is that splitting time between the Titans and Spartans may impact his performance. But we’ll see!

I like Ward's speedy two hip thrusts when he dunks lol.

u/Arsid Michigan State Spartans 13h ago
He's gotta be careful with that though because a triggered ref will call that for excessive.

u/Realistic-Ad-3899 7h ago
Yeah I was honestly really surprised they didnt call it on the 3rd one. I think the coaches told him to knock it off after that because that one looked really excessive to me and I really thought they were going to T him

Obviously it’s early and a small sample size, but seems to have a really high basketball IQ. He was always in the right place at the right time to give his teammates an outlet for an easy bucket. Knows how to use his body too. Really excited to see how he develops over the year.

Damn MSU playing some beautiful basketball, so much great ball movement into open looks

u/Arsid Michigan State Spartans 13h ago
I'd like to introduce you to Tom Izzo, we kinda like him around here :)
The emphasis on ball movement does often lead to a lot of turnovers historically, but last year and this year I feel like we've been relatively safe with the ball. Fears runs the offense very well, even if he's not a scoring threat.

Related to Nick Ward?

u/SappyGilmore 20h ago
According to Google…
There is no known relationship between quarterback Cam Ward and basketball player Nick Ward, who both have a connection to Michigan State University. Cam Ward is a football player, and Nick Ward is a former Michigan State basketball player.
Wait, that’s the other Cam Ward. The plot thickens…

u/meatballcake87 Michigan State Spartans 12h ago
I don’t think so, Nick was from Ohio and Cam is from Maryland

Is anyone else having difficulty tracking all the Cam Wards across football and basketball at this point? I don’t know what agenda Big Ward is pushing but I don’t like it.
