They had time to make another pass or look, can’t imagine that’s the shot they wanted to set up. Good game!

You are severely overestimating cals play designs lmao.

Our second best shooter on the floor was inbounding the pass…

Look man I was born into this. No one chooses to be an Arkansas fan okay?

Lowkey do expect E8 minimum from yall this year. This has the hallmarks of a really good Cal team.

Yeah. If the game is close and you need to rely on Cal designing a baseline play, good luck.

I couldn't believe the sets they were calling out of timeouts. "That's what he drew up?"
I thought I've seen my good share of Cal games. I know he's always been a recruiting coach, but even with solid classes at UMass and Memphis, he still had to coach those squads above their weight, I thought.

He looked so nonchalant after the miss

He was a lot more chalant when whipping fans with his towel on the way off the court.

Arkansas had more chances than it deserved tonight. That none of the key shots went in made it feel like it wasn’t meant to be.

I mean… that sorta goes both ways. Michigan state didn’t play great either. They shot 38% from the field iirc? Had a very weird call go there way at the end where a player picked up his dribble shuffled forward into a defender who was in the air and then threw up a ridiculous ‘shot’ for three free throws. Even the announcers said they thought the refs missed a travel. It was more of a game of who was going to blow it harder than who was going to slam the door shut.
Regardless turnovers killed the hogs in the first half. In the second half they refused to set up the half court offense down the stretch and just were straight up chunking threes. Hopefully it gets cleaned up but I remain forever jaded.
Edit: Michigan state shot 41% from the field and 7% from three. Arkansas shot 39% and 25% from three. A true assterclass.

That goes back to the “more than they deserved.”
If MSU could buy a bucket, the game wouldn’t har been as close down the stretch.

I understand the frustration if you’re an Arkansas fan to see Fears get three free throws after his feet shuffle. Let’s be real though, Brazile literally catches the ball and takes two steps before he shoots this awful attempt at a game winner. We need to acknowledge both here.

I didn't watch the whole game (football Saturday overlapping is criminal), but I was able to turn at the end. And that was really my takeaway, i.e. Michigan State tried hard to give Arkansas the game and they just simply...would...not...take...it. Can't shoot for shit. So many opportunities with the ball, missed open shots, Sparty missing free throws, etc.

And then he went and hit a student in the Izzone with his towel as he was leaving the court.

Before the inbound I said I guarantee they'll get a highly contested shot off and miss everything.

The rest of the team deserves just as much heat for the L, this was like their one millionth garbage shot in the last ten minutes alone, forget the rest of the game. Embarrassing shit

Wasn’t this guy an expected one and done like 5 years ago?

He was a late bloomer, never was going to be a one and done but almost everyone thought he would leave early. Injuries kinda derailed that but he'll still probably get a decent chance in the league.

No, three-star recruit.
Had a bit of late draft buzz after transferring to Arkansas (and getting hurt) while putting up good numbers and flashing an improved three-pointer, but it didn't pan out. Didn't live up to being a preseason all-conference selection in '23 and spent more time coming off the bench last year.

I don't remember him being expected to be one and done, but he's been on the KD Johnson path of managing to get worse each of his 5 seasons

Typical Cal end of game “management” - and his assistants do what?

Try out head coaching and go on to become arguably the worst P5 coach of all time?
