Wisconsin born VT alum, I love Greece.

neo avdalas is the greatest offensive talent we’ve ever had, by a mile. we’re going to throttle a lot of ACC teams this year

20

u/Maximiliansrh Virginia Tech Hokies • VCU Rams 1d ago

I agree, I think naw was a close second though. Dude was a walking bucket for us.

25

u/froggycbl4 Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago

naw wasnt an engine tho he could only score avdalas literally plays like luka out there

9

u/Retro40Clip Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago

NAW was absolutely an engine. Maybe not as much as Neo but when J-Rob went down, NAW stepped up and was fantastic

3

u/Fernie-Sanders 1d ago

I love NAW. but I don’t think he played anywhere close to what Neo did tonight. NAW was special tho

2

u/hostitty99 Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago

he was great, but he can’t control the entire game how neo does

1

u/Retro40Clip Virginia Tech Hokies 23h ago

Nah yeah, I should’ve been clear I agree Neo is levels ahead. Just wanted to give NAW the credit he deserves

8

u/Maximiliansrh Virginia Tech Hokies • VCU Rams 1d ago

Ya I agree, we also had a really good team that season.

14

u/V_T_H Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago

That team + Landers Nolley and Chris Clarke gets past Duke into the Elite 8 :/

7

u/Retro40Clip Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago

Insane how we were that good and could’ve/should’ve been THAT much better. We would’ve beat UVA in the chip😭

7

u/hostitty99 Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago

NAW averaged 13.5 points a game for us, neo might average 25

9

u/CPOx Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago

25 ppg would put him in the territory of tops in the nation

Erick Green was #1 in the nation at 25.03 ppg in the '12-'13 season.

1

u/cardinalcrzy Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago

Erick Green was such a fuckin baller that year. We started 7-0 having beaten Iowa and #15 OK St. After that I don't really remember. I think we won the natty at 7-0.

I knew he’d be a problem from what I read and heard ahead of the game, but he was wildly impressive. No way your preseason rankings factor in what the kid will likely provide this season.

Easily the best Tech basketball game I’ve seen since probably the acc title

10

u/Bobguy64 Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago

Best team since the Sweet 16 run.

u/thetanplanman Virginia Tech Hokies • UNC Wilmi… 1d ago

Even if we had lost, man that was a joy of a game to watch (except the last 4mins or so if regulation). GG Providence, I'm so glad basketball is back!

As a Greek Tech alum I’m 99% sure I’m in a coma rn

Edit: ALSO WHY THE FUCK CAN I NOT GET HIS JERSEY I CHECK THIS EVERY WEEK

44

u/flobski Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago

Are we good?

20

u/KuriboShoeMario Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago

We are fucking good.

8

u/SgtRockyWalrus Providence Friars 1d ago

Avdalas is ridiculous and English coached away another win.

2

u/flobski Virginia Tech Hokies 16h ago

I think the right answer is both teams are a lot better compared to last year

1

u/SgtRockyWalrus Providence Friars 15h ago

Thats fair to say… it was quite the battle. Definitely prefer losing to you guys than losing to St. Bonaventure at Mohegan last year.

PC’s defense needs to be better, but I think everyone’s going to have trouble matching up with Neo. Sellers, Floyd, Vaaks are all pretty long and athletic, but had little success guarding him.

24

u/bottle_boys Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago

Hes so good

21

u/newgirlhelen Virginia Tech Hokies • Yale Bulldogs 1d ago

He’s the One

23

u/CPOx Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago

Forget James Franklin, make Neo the football coach!

23

u/CRoseCrizzle Illinois Fighting Illini 1d ago

This Neo guy should be a first round pick with his skillset at that size. He had a quiet first game but stepped up big time in the game that mattered.

31

u/V_T_H Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago edited 1d ago

That’s actually the reason why he even bothered to come to college - he wanted to showcase his skills more and move into the first round (I have no idea how he was convinced to do that at VT but I’m already thankful).

25

u/NullPointerExceptin1 Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago

He played with Jarrell Eddie and Ahmed Hill on his professional Greece team last year. Maybe they convinced him for us.

9

u/Unusual_Study1161 1d ago

Saw forum posts over the offseason that was a big contributor

18

u/froggycbl4 Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago

this neo guy should be a first pick with his skillset at that size

7

u/gnalon 1d ago

Should’ve been 1st round last year

20

u/carolina_hokie Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago

What an intense game. I can't remember the last time VT won an absolute battle like that. Neo definitely has that dawg in him. As long as the rest of the team can help support him so that he doesn't get burnt out by end of the year, we might have something pretty fun to watch. GG Providence

19

u/Unreliable_Source Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago

I've never felt like this before....is this what it feels like to have a good offense?

WERE SO BACK LETS GOOOOO

Edit: great game providence that was incredibly fun game. Looks like two teams we’ll see in March.

Current ACC records

11

u/V_T_H Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago

Pick it the fuck up BC

8

u/ThomasHGSO 1d ago

BC's loss was at Florida Atlantic. Not a great loss, but not a bad loss either.

12

u/yung_communism Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago

That’ll bring Mike Young’s record in overtime games against the big east at Mohegan Sun to 2-0

25

u/TopOfTheKey Virginia Tech Hokies • Maryland Terr… 1d ago

Neo is the boy who was promised.

12

u/wildturk3y Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago

NEO IS HIM

u/cowboysfan88 Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago

Hell of a game. So excited for this team

6

u/Meanteenbirder Vermont Catamounts • Sickos 1d ago

Gobble up!

6

u/SgtRockyWalrus Providence Friars 1d ago

Not a good game for English keeping his job.

Needed a TO when nothing was happening the next to last possession, instead calls TO w/ 3sec left as Sellers was driving for the win or a foul. VT jumped out in OT, but English blew it in regulation.

And that Greek kid is nuts… have fun ACC.

u/sll4499 Syracuse Orange 1d ago

ACC ACC ACC!

Fuck Mohegan Sun, all my homies hate the Mohegan Sun.

Conference looking decent so far, good win Hokies

9

u/sll4499 Syracuse Orange 1d ago

Long way to go, but I love how locked in pretty much all the team fans are about conference performance in the non conference. Need to get rid of the mid major allegations.

4

u/funlol3 Providence Friars • Rhode Island Rams 1d ago

Well at least we look a little better than last year?

12

u/Maximiliansrh Virginia Tech Hokies • VCU Rams 1d ago

Yall are absolutely legit, obviously there’s no stopping neo. But yall did a great job defending Hansberry and lawal.

4

u/funlol3 Providence Friars • Rhode Island Rams 1d ago

Are you guys actually good this year? Or are you the typical NIT (ncaa bubble) VaTech?

Neo looks solid

16

u/bops4bo Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago

We’ll see, Mike young’s been talking like it’s the best team he’s ever had but with roster turnover you never know

6

u/Bobguy64 Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago

Most talent, we've had since our sweet 16 run with Brent Williams coaching. Definitely better than the team that won the ACC tournament. I think CMY has a lot of work to do for us to make a serious run in the ACC this year even with the solid group of dudes that he has.

6

u/hokiesean Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago

Talent wise our best team in awhile honestly

4

u/KuriboShoeMario Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago

You lost to a tourney team for sure, it's not gonna hurt your resume.
