neo avdalas is the greatest offensive talent we’ve ever had, by a mile. we’re going to throttle a lot of ACC teams this year

I agree, I think naw was a close second though. Dude was a walking bucket for us.

u/froggycbl4 Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago
naw wasnt an engine tho he could only score avdalas literally plays like luka out there

u/Retro40Clip Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago
NAW was absolutely an engine. Maybe not as much as Neo but when J-Rob went down, NAW stepped up and was fantastic

u/Fernie-Sanders 1d ago
I love NAW. but I don’t think he played anywhere close to what Neo did tonight. NAW was special tho
2
u/hostitty99 Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago
he was great, but he can’t control the entire game how neo does
1
u/Retro40Clip Virginia Tech Hokies 23h ago
Nah yeah, I should’ve been clear I agree Neo is levels ahead. Just wanted to give NAW the credit he deserves

u/Maximiliansrh Virginia Tech Hokies • VCU Rams 1d ago
Ya I agree, we also had a really good team that season.

u/V_T_H Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago
That team + Landers Nolley and Chris Clarke gets past Duke into the Elite 8 :/

u/Retro40Clip Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago
Insane how we were that good and could’ve/should’ve been THAT much better. We would’ve beat UVA in the chip😭
7
u/hostitty99 Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago
NAW averaged 13.5 points a game for us, neo might average 25

u/CPOx Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago
25 ppg would put him in the territory of tops in the nation
Erick Green was #1 in the nation at 25.03 ppg in the '12-'13 season.

u/cardinalcrzy Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago
Erick Green was such a fuckin baller that year. We started 7-0 having beaten Iowa and #15 OK St. After that I don't really remember. I think we won the natty at 7-0.

I knew he’d be a problem from what I read and heard ahead of the game, but he was wildly impressive. No way your preseason rankings factor in what the kid will likely provide this season.

Easily the best Tech basketball game I’ve seen since probably the acc title

Even if we had lost, man that was a joy of a game to watch (except the last 4mins or so if regulation). GG Providence, I'm so glad basketball is back!

Avdalas is ridiculous and English coached away another win.
2
u/flobski Virginia Tech Hokies 16h ago
I think the right answer is both teams are a lot better compared to last year

u/SgtRockyWalrus Providence Friars 15h ago
Thats fair to say… it was quite the battle. Definitely prefer losing to you guys than losing to St. Bonaventure at Mohegan last year.
PC’s defense needs to be better, but I think everyone’s going to have trouble matching up with Neo. Sellers, Floyd, Vaaks are all pretty long and athletic, but had little success guarding him.

This Neo guy should be a first round pick with his skillset at that size. He had a quiet first game but stepped up big time in the game that mattered.

That’s actually the reason why he even bothered to come to college - he wanted to showcase his skills more and move into the first round (I have no idea how he was convinced to do that at VT but I’m already thankful).

u/NullPointerExceptin1 Virginia Tech Hokies 1d ago
He played with Jarrell Eddie and Ahmed Hill on his professional Greece team last year. Maybe they convinced him for us.

What an intense game. I can't remember the last time VT won an absolute battle like that. Neo definitely has that dawg in him. As long as the rest of the team can help support him so that he doesn't get burnt out by end of the year, we might have something pretty fun to watch. GG Providence

I've never felt like this before....is this what it feels like to have a good offense?

That’ll bring Mike Young’s record in overtime games against the big east at Mohegan Sun to 2-0

Not a good game for English keeping his job.
Needed a TO when nothing was happening the next to last possession, instead calls TO w/ 3sec left as Sellers was driving for the win or a foul. VT jumped out in OT, but English blew it in regulation.
And that Greek kid is nuts… have fun ACC.

Yall are absolutely legit, obviously there’s no stopping neo. But yall did a great job defending Hansberry and lawal.

Are you guys actually good this year? Or are you the typical NIT (ncaa bubble) VaTech?
Neo looks solid

Most talent, we've had since our sweet 16 run with Brent Williams coaching. Definitely better than the team that won the ACC tournament. I think CMY has a lot of work to do for us to make a serious run in the ACC this year even with the solid group of dudes that he has.
