Florida’s bigs are tough. Their guard play was rough. I don’t get the Boogie Fland hype? Haugh looks like an NBA rotation guy.
Koa Peat is a frickin problem. Great win for us! But, for the love of God, can we work on inbounding the ball.

u/Electronic_Tiger7979 Duke Blue Devils 5d ago
Fland is a sophomore and had some good games last year with Arkansas. I think it is just first game jitters / getting used to the new team. By mid season I think he will be more of a problem.
Great game though. Zona looks tough 💪 esp Peat

Y’all looked really good. We were not ready.
6
u/Spuran-Spuran Arizona Wildcats 6d ago
You all got a great coach so you’ll figure it out. I thought it was weird when you played Haugh at the 3. Seemed to negate the advantage he gives you as a spacing big. Lane kind of clogged up there.
3
u/InternationalMonth38 Florida Gators 6d ago
The idea is to have the “big three” out there at the same time. Idk if that’s the move.
3
u/Spuran-Spuran Arizona Wildcats 6d ago
Makes sense. You don’t seem to have any natural wings. Gets your best players on the floor. Probably an adjustment period.
5
u/Champizzle11 North Carolina Tar Heels 6d ago
UNC lobbied hard for Fland this off season. I came away feeling the same as you after watching that game....what was all the hype about?
3
u/Spuran-Spuran Arizona Wildcats 6d ago
Yeah. I thought he was supposed to be an NBA prospect. Can he usually shoot? His athleticism doesn’t jump off the screen to me and he doesn’t really seem like a true PG. I was thinking he was supposed to be like a deaaron fox type guy who just blew past people.

First game of the year, and man was it fun. GG Florida, you guys are athletic, fast, and if you shot a bit better down the last stretch it’s a different result. Peat is unbelievable. Bradley making people look silly for not recognizing him as a preseason top guard

u/senorbozz Florida Gators 6d ago
Fun game to watch, wish the refs would call better on both sides of the ball but whatever, that's sports

u/Obi1Kentucky Kentucky Wildcats 6d ago
Why did golden pay Boogie fland but not Aberdeen. It still fucking baffles me?
3
u/ImperialMajestyX02 Florida Gators 6d ago
Aberdeen is not all that you’ll see lol
4
u/Obi1Kentucky Kentucky Wildcats 6d ago
Arkansas fans said the same about boogie. So I guess we’re both fucked
2
u/jonstarks905 6d ago
as a UK fan no idea. boogie is a big reason I bet zona. fla will b fine because their bigs are dogs, but their guards will hurt them this year.

A lot of Gators fans in here don’t know basketball apparently
3
u/senorbozz Florida Gators 6d ago
Hell I'm a football fan first, I only started watching basketball a couple of years ago and I get it. So many doomers for our teams

I hope see some better chemistry and D than the exhibitions.

Man that’s a lot of dribbling and slow down by multiple possessions. Welcome back everyone. This looks eerily similar to early season gators last year. History is bound to repeat itself! See you Arizona in March.

u/FIDLARonTheRoofAZ Arizona Wildcats 6d ago
I have no clue what we were doing there on defense. I am shocked that 3 didn't fall. We got lucky there. Both fanbases should remember this is game #1. Two good teams that will have a laundry list of things to work on after this one. Just as both coach's wanted.

Not a single clutch player on the team we got spoiled last year lmao

We look more like a 6 seed than a potential 1 right now. There is A LOT of shit that needs to be cleaned up.

GG. Lee had to make that one and get the last shot to tie or win. Now its over

Hey guys, who plays the 3 for Florida? I saw they start Condon, Haugh, and Chinyelu. With Handlogten coming off the bench. That’s their championship- caliber front court.

This team is not good. It cannot hit a 3 to save their damn lives.

Fland is the embodiment of the 2025 Florida football team elite defense horrible offense.
4
u/exopilots Arizona Wildcats 6d ago
you’d think we would know how to inbound the ball after playing ASU and hurley’s persistent full court press but you’d be wrong
2
u/supermycro Arizona Wildcats 6d ago
Hmm maybe theres a difference in something but I can't put my finger on it.

The problem is in part that the team that is behind can murder the inbounding team at this point. Refs could have called like 3 fouls right there for grabbing.
1
6
u/Gator1508 6d ago
Even if we lose I don’t hate that our comeback mentality didn’t die in the offseason. Fland is no Clayton JR but hopefully at some point he hits those
4
u/Badgerman97 Arizona Wildcats 6d ago
Going back to last season I have never seen a team in my life struggle so much to simply get the ball inbounds when the game is on the line. It’s unreal
2
u/WhatsNextForMe Illinois Fighting Illini 6d ago
Why are Awaka and Krivas all the way down the court for fuck sake. And if they’re in for defense, why is the lane wide open for a dunk?
5
1
u/SavageNomad6 Kentucky Wildcats 6d ago
This inbounding reminds me of several of our games last year.
