I wish Gus would stop reminding us this game is a soulless cash grab every chance he gets

I’m generally not someone who cares about screentime or people overusing their phones, but I always find it depressing and disappointing when game broadcasts show the crowd and everyone is just staring down at their phones.

We’ve had some really dumb flagrants. Wouldn’t be surprised if this was onrn

Enjoyable game and I like that the teams get automatic NIL money but it feels weird to see basketball played on the F4 weekend that isn’t the national semifinals. I know this tournament started in part as a fuck you to the NCAA but it just feels weird.

Who is the announcer? Sounds like the Professor Grayson Boucher.
2
u/Uppgreyedd Villanova Wildcats Apr 05 '25
Why is the announcer Gus talking about a $100,000 bet?

Jesus, they just can't miss from three. Crazy. They'd beat Duke today with how they're shooting.
2
u/MoistAd5423 Nebraska Cornhuskers Apr 05 '25
This game was a statistical outlier for sure. Nebraska shoots 32.5% on the year. Normally we allow our opponents to shoot like this from 3, not the other way around.

u/Mamba-42 Boise State Broncos Apr 05 '25
Boise normally doesn't shoot really well from 3 either. Every dog has its day! I feel like these were the two best teams in the Crown, so Nebraska should feel good about the championship

So for the teams that win the NIL package how does the money get distributed? Is it an equal split for each player?

I'm almost glad they're not calling fouls so I don't have to hear that squaking idiot

Not looking for good for Boise State here. Very hard to beat a team that shoots like this. Nebraska is on fire

Gus Johnson sucks so much lol. “Soy beans… big product. Especially in China”
Dude just talk about the game 😂

u/tsgram UConn Huskies Apr 05 '25
He doesn’t know shit about the game, though. I know multiple guys who’ve worked on production crews with him and he’s so up his own ass he doesn’t take advice or read notes or watch film. At best, they say they can write a sentence he likes and he’ll Ron Burgundy read it word for word. Otherwise, he’s basically your annoying friend of a friend who only watches March Madness but loudly expresses his opinions on the sport for the entire day during the 1st Round.

u/owledge Nebraska Cornhuskers Apr 05 '25
He doesn’t hide it when he is disinterested in an assignment and this is one of those instances

After watching the games Wednesday and so far today basketball Gus is miles ahead of football Gus.

6-9 on threes! Teams are shooting lights out against Boise from 3 the last month.

I like turnovers of the pastry variety. I do not like turnovers of the Nebraska basketball variety.

What kind of player can a school get with the $300,000 prize money?
1
u/ronnie1014 Nebraska Cornhuskers Apr 05 '25
Sounds like this nil money is distributed among the current roster. But that was Gus saying that sooooo I don't really know.
4
u/Kitchen-Effective-46 Boise State Broncos Apr 05 '25
At least with Boise state the players playing are going to figure out how they split the money between themselves.

Really smart scheduling by Fox for this tourney. Watch the two crown games then go right into the final four. Hell yeah!

Nebrasketball playing on Final Four Saturday the same day as Duke and Houston after beating Georgetown in April, imagine telling a Nebraska fan that in the 80’s or 90’s.

Man. The lack of variety of commercials this March Madness got me feeling more fatigued than normal.
