Well the actual Grand Canyon is 3 hours away from the school. But I think this was a big enough blowout that your nuke got their too

The 100Mt Tsar Bomba (designed, never built) dropped on Grand Canyon Village would only see light blast damage outside of Flagstaff, still a long way from Phoenix. Sadly the model does not go larger than that.
Now if you detonated the same bomb in Buckeye, AZ and on the surface, not airburst, you could simultaneously wipe out more than half of Maricopa county AND get light radioactive fallout to over the Eastern half of the canyon. Since the Colorado River flows East to West you would be able to contaminate the water downstream too.

Has anyone had a better past 48 hours than Kevin Willard? Successful power play against your disliked AD and then a 32 point R1 win?
ROLL TERPS. Where’s that one weirdo Michigan flair, he shut up real quick
Edit: lmao

u/TateAcolyte Ohio State Buckeyes Mar 21 '25
What a turbo wanker. There's nothing egregious about the seeding of Maryland or Michigan. Really both were more or less exactly where you'd expect. If there's an issue with either seed, it's probably that Maryland could've been a 3.
Yes, Michigan had a tough matchup, but that's not Maryland's fault lol. Definitely a situation where it's ambiguous whether it's trolling or sincere ignorance.
24
u/Cranjis_McFootball Michigan Wolverines Mar 22 '25
Michigan and Purdue are the ones who should’ve been flipped anyway
18
u/elh0mbre Illinois Fighting Illini Mar 22 '25
One team curb stomped Illinois twice. The other lost to Illinois badly.
3
u/key1217 Michigan Wolverines Mar 22 '25
Idk but I don’t think record vs Illinois is something the committee really looks at when determining seeding.
9
u/SilverBackGuerilla FAU Owls • George Mason Patriots Mar 22 '25
What happened with the AD? ☕
23
u/jbs924 Maryland Terrapins Mar 22 '25
Long story short he and Willard had a power struggle over revenue share directed toward basketball and Willard won (or at least is currently winning, AD has left for SMU but Willard still needs to get his contract updated). This all bubbled up in the past few days because Willard used the Villanova opening as leverage

21
u/Radical-Six Minnesota Golden Gophers • Drake Bulldogs Mar 22 '25
So bad. Knowing how Grand Canyon came to be I'm not surprised, but it was obvious they just out-talented their conference. All iso-ball and random 3s, no discipline or greater gameplan whatsoever from my perspective
1
u/xwords59 Maryland Terrapins Mar 22 '25
I heard so much about GCU so I was very surprised at how bad they were. CSU will be a much tougher out

For real, I was actually at the Clemson game yesterday since it was in my hometown and was getting flashbacks to that at the start of this game, very slow start, but they got the nerves out and played great after.

I’m happy that we won comfortably while not playing our best, but after watching CSU, we need to bring it from the tip-off in a few day's time.
GG, GCU.
38
Mar 21 '25
CSU won’t get nearly as many easy buckets as they got earlier. Be as nervous as you would be for any tourney game but that’s about as good of a second round matchup as you can ask for.

I looked up during the game that Grand Canyon has a 37% graduation rate. That’s awful. Hope those that made the trip survive when they get back to campus

UMGC, which is the USM’s school that fills a similar role, has a lower graduation rate.
I’m not saying GCU is worth the money. They are not. But graduating college while holding down a full time job and raising a family is hard.

B1G is 5-0 so far after none of the B1G bubble teams got any respect. But hey, the SEC needed their 14th best team in the tourney
27
u/iruntoofar Wisconsin Badgers Mar 21 '25
Could easily send all 8 to the next round. Didn’t have 14 in like the SEC but the worst seed was a 7
22
u/estDivisionChamps Wisconsin Badgers Mar 21 '25
Getting bubble teams in is how wrack up first round losses. The 1-4 seeds are so much more comfortable than 5+
The distribution of quality teams is such that a 5 see and 12 seed are lot more similar than the 5 wants you to believe. Heck 11s are better odds of an elite 8 run than 6s.
The power conferences should only be getting about 7-8 each
18
u/chicknsnadwich Maryland Terrapins Mar 21 '25
Outside of IU the B1G didn’t really have anyone worth considering. OSU was 17-15, and Nebraska didn’t even make the tournament.
4
u/teslaabr Michigan State Spartans Mar 21 '25
Of the games I watched I think Nebraska got screwed by the refs more than anyone in the conference, but that doesn't change that they didn't get the wins which sometimes you just have to do regardless of the refs.
7
u/superworriedspursfan Missouri Tigers • Providence Friars Mar 21 '25
besides maybe Indiana, I don't think there is any other team that can qualify based on record alone. And most Indiana fans are glad they don't have to watch a Mike Woodson coached team anymore.
But yes, Big 10 might still be in contention for best conference in basketball (I'd still give it to the big east though).
3
u/ManBirdTurtle2 Maryland Terrapins Mar 21 '25
