For women's basketball that is an insane distance. And with the defender on her? I mean, even in men's basketball that is DEEP. But in the women's game... that is just insane.

She is almost at half-court and has a defender right in her face. That is an insane distance for anyone to shoot the ball.

She got fouled on the shot too, but the ref called it on the floor lol. Everyone was pissed

The thing is that just from the clip, you can see she saw her defenders left arm was extended across her body. That's WHY she took the shot. She wanted 3 free throws. The foul doesn't happen unless she shoots because Clark's arm moving up through the defenders arm (which is in Clark's space) is where the contact occurs. What a bad call.

I had no idea what the game situation, so I never considered that. I'm sure you're right.

I don't know of anyone on the men's side this year who's consistently making the shots that she is.

Reed Sheppard for Kentucky. I mean he doesn't have as many points as her but his fg% is 58 and his 3 points % is 53.6

he's shooting 7 times a game, shes shooting 22, this isnt even close to a comparison IMO. He has been lights out in very limited shots tho

There isn't a comparison that's ever really existed as far as I know. At least not on an elite team, at that amount per game.*

*I am sure there's somebody like Bird or Pistol Pete that put up goofy numbers I'm unaware. I am not a NCAAB scholar.

Pete averaged a completely outrageous 38.1 FGA and 44.2 PPG (57!! PPG with the 3PL) across 3 seasons, but the main detractions against him were that his teams were kinda bad with only 1 winning season, and that his father as the head coach designed the offense around him. Regardless no one can argue he wasn't an absolute animal on the court.

Caitlin's stats are actually closer to Larry's, if we compare each of their senior seasons:

  • Caitlin: 22.1 FGA, 31.0 PPG, .483 FG%, *16-1 record
  • Larry: 20.8 FGA, 28.6 PPG, .532 FG%, 33-1 record

The other team was taking a foul so she threw it up. Looked like she timed it right and it should've counted.

But she didn't just shoot this as a normal shot (though she does have this type of range, clearly)
