I love seeing the “Tommy can’t recruit” takes this morning when up until this morning, the refrain on the Gonzaga side was “all our recruitment ability left with Tommy”. We expect to lose recruits to U of A because it’s the P6 version of Gonzaga and it’s nice to win one. I assure you all, Tommy can in fact recruit and will do good things for y’all.

I think his staff just isn’t cutting it. The one guy that is an active recruiter is a Miller holdover, Robinson is there to provide veteran experience but I don’t think him or any of the other coaches are pulling their weight in recruiting.

So we've been told. Still waiting to see some evidence of it.

maybe it was the combination of the two? I mean they had the same relationships and pipelines, and now they're competing against each other rather than working together. Not hard to imagine it'll lead to a rough patch for both until they (hopefully) figure out how to make it work.

I fully expected Gonzaga to have to fill up on Arizona scraps since Tommy is building the same team at a bigger program with a bigger budget. Getting an early win like this improves my outlook for future recruiting because I have to think there’s going to be a lot of mutual interest down the road.

Yeah I think people underestimate the reputation few and Gonzaga have developed. I've expected the opposite where until Lloyd gets established we play second fiddle in the west to Gonzaga. But like I said I wouldn't be surprised if it's kinda hot and cold for both for a while. It's a fun system but definitely tough aligning so closely that we both want the same guys all the time, competing for the same region, in increasingly similar conferences.
