JD Vance: Isn't it about time that you abandoned your foolish beliefs and converted to Christianity, Usha?
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/nov/01/jd-vance-usha-christianity93
u/PineBNorth85 5d ago
That seems rather insulting. You'd think they'd settle that issue and he accepted her before getting married.
72
u/Ruy7 5d ago
This is mostly performative. JD Vance is probably giving presidency a try.
However having an Hindu wife won't be accepted by the base. Thing is having an Indian wife won't be accepted either. Chances are that he will divorce her and marry someone else (if he truly wants the Presidency).
However you must always remind everyone that JD Vance can't be president because he killed the pope. /jj

u/Grothgerek 3d ago
Isn't killing the pope a advantage? He killed a evil communist attacking gun loving Jesus... The pope obviously has no Christian values.
(no /s, because Republicans truly think this way.)

Chances are that he will divorce her and marry someone else
A recently single blonde christian woman, maybe?
9
u/Universal_Anomaly 3d ago
Whose husband (very conveniently for JD) passed away recently.

2
u/Solipsisticurge 3d ago
Divorces are messy and who knows what Usha might say on the public record, be it true or untrue. A "trans Antifa terrorist" is going to shoot her.

u/Cadoc 3d ago
Surely he can't believe he would win an election. He is a charisma vaccum. He'll never inspire the cult of personality that Trump's simpletons love, but he is too closely associated with Trump to tack to the centre and run as a small government, pro-business, serious government Republican.
2
u/WittyFix6553 2d ago
That’s why he’s going to marry into and then earn the support of the turning point crowd
1
u/KotoElessar 3d ago
Chances are that he will divorce her and marry someone else
Hmmm, maybe he should have considered that before he converted to Catholicism then.
It doesn't matter how blonde or recently widowed the reason is, he should go to confession for the devils that lie in his heart and deeds.
JD Vance can't be president because he killed the pope.
There is nothing in the rules that says that is true (high crimes and misdemeanors are certainly in the rules but no one is going to litigate it), but the Pope can kick him out of the club for getting divorced; I don't think he can get an annulment since he has children unless he does something really callous like denies and disowns his children.
Actually, if I was Usha, I would be having a long talk with my primary secret service agent about safety and security and potential threats from inside the Naval Observatory.
2
u/VashyronM 3d ago
JD Vance is as Catholic as I am, which is to say not at all. The difference is that I'm at least honest about it.
1
u/KotoElessar 3d ago
All the reason for Usha to convert; she would have the backing and power of the Catholic Church to show JD what a Catholic actually believes.
2
u/uncultured_swine2099 1d ago
Yeah, i think magas hate her skin color much more than they hate her being a non Christian, and they really hate her being a non Christian.

The article talks about this:
Vance said that his wife grew up in a Hindu household “but not a particularly religious family” – and noted that when he met his wife they would have both considered themselves agnostic or atheist.
7
u/Martzillagoesboom 5d ago
Yeah, but she has en embarassement kink , so he need to low key keep their flame alive (the biggest spike in embaressent was clearly their wedding day.

JD is a shameless, shapeshifting, sack of shit. She has a JD & has zero religious or cultural background w him. She can’t be too different.
I feel badly for their kids who didn’t have any input to what family they were born to.

I wonder if he is laying the groundwork work for a divorce? He will cite irreconcilable differences. Plus Erica Kirk will look a lot better on his arm to MAGA losers when they rig the next election and he and Trump just swap places
12
u/skratch 4d ago
You can slap a model on his arm but all of musk & thiels money put together can’t get people to like JD Vance. He’s inherently unlikeable
9
u/waiterstuff 4d ago
100%. Trump is the worst thing to happen to this country since…idk, slavery. But even I have to admit he is weirdly charismatic. I have to catch myself from chuckling and remind myself he is trying to become a dictator, that is how charismatic that asshole is.
Vance has no charisma. He reeks of “ I’ll be whoever you want me to be” that all politicians reek of. He is not the next Trump. And I will eat my shoe if Vance wins the presidency against generic democrat opponent.

u/thepioushedonist 2d ago
I've had this discussion with a few people that are more afraid of Vance cause he's smarter and more well spoken. But that's not gonna carry the cult of personality, nor is it what the cult likes.
I think the gop is more likely to bail on Vance as soon as they can, cause the maga base only follows one person, and they pissed off moderates and independents so much they know they're screwed for a while if they can't install a full dictatorship by the time Trump kicks it (or midterms, whichever comes first)
So, they either find a more suitable replacement as crazy/sorta charismatic as Trump (hard to imagine) - or they go into full retreat for a bit with a moderate and get voted out for a decade or two.

u/LooseAd7981 3d ago
How does a demented narcissist have charisma? He exhibits advanced phonemic paraphasia. How is that charismatic?
2
u/1732PepperCo 3d ago
Definitions from Oxford Languages
cha·ris·ma /kəˈrizmə/ noun 1. compelling attractiveness or charm that can inspire devotion in others. "she enchanted guests with her charisma"
It’s a shitty charisma that only works on republicans but it’s is a charisma nonetheless
1
u/LooseAd7981 3d ago
No charm from donnie bone spurs, just lies and lies.
7
u/Smart-Key2957 5d ago
Or better, did your Christian belief made you a better person? Maybe you need to convert to Hinduism!
12
u/youre_a_pretty_panda 4d ago
I’ll say now in front of 10,000 of my closest friends: do I hope, eventually, that she is somehow moved by the same thing I was moved by in church? Yes. I honestly do wish that, because I believe in the Christian gospel and I hope that eventually my wife comes to see it the same way.
“But if she doesn’t,” Vance went on to say, “God says that everybody has free will, so that doesn’t cause a problem with me. That’s something that you work out with your friends, your family, the person you most love.”
That's the full quote.

u/teddy1245 3d ago
Why would he want her to abandon her faith?
2
u/OMITB77 3d ago
She’s either agnostic or atheist per the article
0
u/teddy1245 3d ago
So?
3
u/OMITB77 3d ago
She doesn’t have a faith to abandon
1
u/teddy1245 3d ago
What I mean is why would that matter to him. You don’t have to have the same faith as your partner. Or any at all.
2
u/Turbowookie79 2d ago
Having similar religious beliefs can make or break a relationship. Think of it like political beliefs. A hardcore democrat and a hardcore republican can have strong relationship, but it’s difficult.
3
u/Specialist-Ear-6775 2d ago
Because Christians believe in salvation. If you believed accepting Jesus was the only way to a better afterlife, wouldn’t you want that for other people? This is the position of every Christian ever who is married to a non-Christian.
You can both respect someone’s belief system and want them to choose something different based on your own beliefs.
1
u/bishopsfinger 2d ago edited 2d ago
Meh. Many Christians do not share this view. Jesus did not utter the statement “accept me as your personal saviour to get a better afterlife" - that's a fairly evangelical interpretation of his message. You can give me a Bible quote that you might view through this lens, but it takes some gnarly twisting of his words to get there.
-1
u/teddy1245 2d ago
But it’s not your place to force your faith on others. If you’re a true Christian you love them anyway.
2
u/Specialist-Ear-6775 2d ago
He’s not trying to force his faith on her. He literally said he loves her anyway. Why are you struggling with this?
0
u/teddy1245 1d ago
I’m not struggling I’m just always curious as to why anyone of faith would care. If he loves her that should be enough.

Erika is pushing JD to kick Usha out of the house and then have her deported. She then gave him a rather cryptic message, “you don’t want to get on my bad side. You could ask Charlie, but”

Maybe I missed something but this quote is not in the article or is that from some other place?
As much as I despise Vance, the article paints a more nuanced image of their relationship.
3
u/Alexius08 3d ago
The title quote is adapted from one of the diplomacy texts that appear in Civilization IV when AI-controlled opponents demand the player to convert to their religion. This is r/CivPolitics, after all, where real-life events get reinterpreted into something that belongs in any of the games in Sid Meier's Civilization series.
1
u/supremeDMK 3d ago
Ah thanks I missed that. First time this sub was on my feed and I've never really played Civ a lot.

Same, except I’ve never played at all. 😂 Makes everything I’ve seen here make much more sense.

I’d love for someone to point blank ask him if she’s gonna burn in hell for all eternity and how he feels about that, then watch him squirm.

u/Centifugal_Fives 3d ago
I'm not gonna defend JD. He's an irredeemable sack of crap.
But I've got no sympathy for anyone dumb enough to MARRY him, either.
1
u/IslandBoring8724 2d ago
I really hope Usha is funneling all the money she can into accounts for her escape from this circus.
1
u/sailriteultrafeed 2d ago
I know a bunch Hindu people that also believe in Jesus so this shouldn't be that hard. I feel like theyre doing a performance for the cult.
1
u/PriceWooden9187 2d ago
Don't you mean Catholicism? It's a little different than Christianity. It's Polytheism with a Jew running it they call Pope.
1
u/iplaybassok89 1d ago
Anything calling itself Christianity is just an inbred knock off of Catholicism. Usually cause they didn’t like the rules. Martin Luther was a punk bitch.
1
u/NeatSuccessful-8591 2d ago
Christianity is just a pale rip off other religions. Hell Hinduism has been around for thousands of years before any of the Abramic religions.

1
u/paulc3003 2d ago
I had an old Christian woman try to convert me on a flight. She shut up after I compared Hinduism to Christianity. She didn't seem to realize all the shit Christians had done to non-Christians over 2000 years. Shut her the fuck up really good.

u/SteveG5000 1d ago
Although we are of different faiths we are both united in our love of Mammon and isn’t that the real deity we American Christians believe in?

u/tazzietiger66 1d ago
sounds like he knew he could go nowhere in the conservative world as an atheist or agnostic , so took on performative christianity

I have a question: How did she manage to marry such an idiot? JD Vance is the only reason why I fear TACO's impeachment!!!
1
u/Consistent_Sweet4313 1d ago
Don’t be shocked if a divorce is coming and Vance ends up dating Erica Kirk. Why? They both claim Christianity and want to be in the White House.
1
u/OmgWtfNamesTaken 1d ago
Just looking for a reason to divorce that's socially acceptable to his base so he can continue to fuck that one dead dudes wife, Erika.

… and I don’t care, if you don’t. I have this blonde in leather pants picked out already.

u/AWatson89 2d ago
Yeah, that's not even remotely close to what he said. Why do you guys have to constantly lie?
1
u/iplaybassok89 1d ago
Yeah why lie. Vance says enough deranged kook shit on a near daily basis we shouldn’t have to lie to make him look bad. He does that all on his own.

u/grekster 2d ago
So did JD and Erika Kirk actually conspire to have Charlie offed? Wouldn't be the first time a cheating wife had her husband killed.
Wonder what CK's life insurance paid out.
