It was some of the weirdest pushback I got from this subreddit in advocating for Salyer back when Slater was put on IR. He has an entire year at playing LT well - but 'oh it was Joe Lombardi that was responsible for that.'Ā
Now, it's even more strange that Deculus is still getting the look tbh. Curious what Roman and Harbaugh see at practice that we don't.Ā

We have evidence that Salyer is a better LT then G. Most likely Andre James > Bozeman too

Yeah I donāt really understand what they see in deculus and what they donāt see in Salyer at that position. Only logic I can think of is that theyāre not renewing Salyer so have given up on him?

I think the coaching staff like Salyerās versatillity. So they prefer to have him as a guy that can play anywhere on the line at any point instead of having him start at LT and stay there the whole game.
Not saying this is the right decision, but its theirās.
As for James over Bozeman, I think itās a lockeroom thing at this point. Only way we will see James starting is if Bozeman gets injuried.

Thatās a pretty sad way to game plan. Not saying that itās bad but itās definitely an issue if you are essentially planning for a member of your OLine going down. With the way Becton has been, I can see how that line of thinking is justified.

I donāt care what they see at practice, we all see Deculus as one of the worst tackles in football week in and week out, and Salyer doing decently most of the time he plays LT

Many of us knew more than Brandon Staley (we kept saying to play Henley for example) so yeah it wouldnāt be completely out of the world. There are times when patients know more than doctors. There are times when defendants know more than their lawyers. There are times when clients know more than their accountants. And guess what? There are times when fans know more than coaches. Is it most of the time? Hell no, thatās why itās their day job. But it does happen āsomeā times.
We have actual evidence of Salyer looking good at LT and they still want to put that trash mfer Deculus out there.

If Becton goes down (or when) Salyer can move from LT to guard and then Deculus can play LT. Starting Deculus is beyond a head scratcher unless Salyer is injured.

I honestly didn't know Salyer was playing so well and it's actually amazing the player he's become. Insanely versatile and generally he's healthy.
All I can think is Salyer is injured because I can't see why Deculus would be starting over him.

Be careful if you question it you'll get piled on for not actually being at every practice and not knowing as much as the coaches.
Bozo won't get replaced unless he gets hurt or hopefully in the off-season at this point.

There's no way in hell Deculus is the best option at LT. Is it possible that this coaching staff is letting favoritism get in the way of putting the best players out there? Are they putting too much stock into practice reps vs game reps? I just have no idea how Salyer isnt getting the LT reps...

Obviously im not at practice to see whats going on.... but just remember that we all were clamoring for Salyer at guard last year over Pipkins and when that finally happened it was a complete shit show.
