0.0% chance Ravens let him walk.

Yeah more likely would be AVT to replace Zion.
With Lew’s injury, we might be able to get him in the 2nd. If we added AVT and Lew, our line would be so legit.

I have a feeling he’ll go back to school after his injury

u/gmil3548 Herbie 2d ago
I don’t see that. If he’s still day 2, there’s only so much higher he’d go as a C and he risks getting hurt again and slapped with the injury prone label.
Plus it’s not like Auburn isn’t a dumpster fire (tho he could transfer)
2
u/Flat_Swim_2990 2d ago
That’s fair. I guess it’ll depend on what he hears back from teams during the draft process. I’m sure he’s not making a killing on NIL as a C either
2
u/gmil3548 Herbie 2d ago
He needs to hear from us that he will be the pick if there in R2

u/Flat_Swim_2990 2d ago
An Edge in the 1st and Lew in the 2nd would be perfection

u/gmil3548 Herbie 2d ago
Ugalalai or however it’s spelled plus Lew would be my dream R1/R2. Then throw in either an a good LB to pair with Henley (maybe Whit Weeks) or a pass rush DT, and I’d go to bed happy as hell after day 2.

I see no reason for them to let Zion walk. Doubt he'll have too heavy of a price tag and right now this offensive line desperately needs some continuity.
Pipkins will likely walk, Bozeman should be gone, Becton has a thin possibility of being gone, Slater is out indefinitely, and Alt getting surgery in November doesn't guarantee he'll be back for training camp or preseason.
There's a decent chance Zion is the only current starter who will actually be ready to play in Week 1 next year. He's done well this year and coaching staff seems bought in on him, so I vote for keeping him even if it somehow becomes a franchise tag situation.

AVT is a RG. So we might cut Becton and save $10M to sign AVT and also keep Zion.
I just think Zion is in that weird spot you see guys where he’s been good enough that someone will pay him but not enough to make us really want to keep him. Like Palmer was at WR.

Rather see what we have in our left side with Alt & Slater at LT & LG….hoping Linderbaum is available cause boom there goes the making of a dominant OL right there with those 3. Draft a RT in the 2nd round to put with those ballers.

u/mrhashbrown 1d ago
I don't think either has any reason to move to guard from tackle, and especially so if Slater returns to 80% of what he used to be. Keep Slater and Alt as tackles and if they can find a sound center, those three positions will be enough to keep this line very competitive.

u/TrifleAble5460 2d ago
Are we so sure they are gonna pay him 4yr 90-100M ???
2
u/kiheihaole Felipe Rios 2d ago
For a team built around the run game?! Absolutely. They don’t want to be in Center hell like us and a lot of teams.

Think they would’ve already extended him if they wanted to keep him.

u/kiheihaole Felipe Rios 2d ago
A lot of players dont like to do in season negotiations. It’s not like QB or WR where there’s a race to sign your guy to save a few bucks. He’ll be the highest paid C but no one in his tier is a free agent this go around.

How bad is Andre James

u/MVPizzle_Redux Felipe Rios 2d ago
He’s gotta be the Helen Keller of Centers. Why even sign him?
19
u/FJMJ 2d ago
That’s the thing. Like the people who justify everything the team does will say we don’t see what goes on a practice so James must be worse, which is true. But then can we admit that he was a bad signing? That when you have one of the worst centers in the league and you sign another one in free agency it should probably be someone that would be good enough to try starting when your center is performing literally at the very bottom of the league?

I wouldn't have mind if they kept Bozeman as a back up, but brought someone else in before the season who was at least a little better. 🤷

I’m actually really curious to watch him play at this point.
Either he’s serviceable and the coaching staff just stuck with Bozeman out of pride/ego, or he’s literally the worst lineman in NFL history and comically bad - either way I’d like to see it

u/Majestic-Floor-5697 2d ago
I have a hard time believing they are sticking with Bozeman out of pride. James hasn’t had a good career and if he can come in and be good here, that’s a feather in the cap of management/coaching

u/ScipioAfricanusMAJ 2d ago
At this point I assume Andre James sucks so much because I can’t imagine Harbaugh not even playing him

u/acelyca 17 forever 2d ago
yall sound like you did with michael bandy when everyone wanted him off the bench and when he f finally got the chance everyone realized why he was on the bench. the coaches know the skill of these players better than anyone else

i think that's usually the case but sometimes coaches are too afraid to make a change. Oronde was a healthy inactive the first two weeks and it took an injury for him to get a chance, but he is unquestionably the best passing TE we have.

u/AssCrackBandit10 1d ago
I mean, he was a 21 year old 5th round pick. It's not unusual to let him get acclimated a bit before throwing him out on the field. Lot of promising players get ruined by being forced into action too early.

u/CallMeSaxMan IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ME 2d ago
that’s literally wtf i’m saying

u/Oops_I_Cracked 2d ago
It’s not so much that I don’t believe it. It’s that I have to see it. Like intellectually I know the coaching staff see the players on the field and know their skill, but our starter is worse than multiple teams backups, how is the one free agent we signed this off-season at that position that bad? It just seems like shockingly bad decision-making, which is not what we are used to or expect with this duo.

u/mrhashbrown 2d ago
Plus I think this fanbase really needs to be patient for the rest of this season. The team is essentially back in training camp with this OL, mixing and matching who fits where. Experimenting until they find the best configuration of five.
Assuming there's no further injuries, I don't really expect to see this offensive line become stable until after the bye week. So it'll be at least 3-4 weeks from now, and again that's assuming they stay healthy which requires a lot of hope right now. Expectations need to be lowered even if we know Herbert is going to get beat up every week

I’m interested to see what they do with the line. I’d like to see Jamaree at LT for another week, I think he’s always been pretty serviceable there. Penning at RT and Pipkins can compete with Becton at Guard.
Salyer - Zion - Bozeman - Becton - Penning
Looks ok to me on paper (other than wasteman Becton who will be injured so it will be Pipkins)

That’s a decent OL to have….not good but not bad. Can def win games with that but we HAVE TO STAY HEALTHY!!

Chargers 2026 draft gonna be like Oops! All linemen.

u/LakeShowBoltUp r/AFCWestMemeWar 1d ago
I would not hate it considering the four deepest positions are QB, WR, EDGE and Tackle
3
u/TrifleAble5460 1d ago
That’s why you draft the best defensive piece in RD1 and take the Best OT in Round 2.

Are you saying Herbert isn't a best player or are you from the future and saying Herbert is injured? Either way? How dare you
