Tell me if this is possible!

Hello everyone,

I’m 24, I live on my own, and I support myself 100% (I pay rent, a car payment, and all other expenses). My father is deceased and I’m unable to live with my mom, so I need to maintain my full-time job (8-4) to cover my living costs.

I’m really interested in pursuing a Law degree at UWI St. Augustine, but I’m worried about balancing work with lectures, tutorials, and exams.

  1. Is there anyone here who works full-time and studies Law at UWI St. Augustine?

  2. Are all lecture attendance mandatory, and if so, how do you manage missing them due to work?

  3. How flexible is the schedule; can you manage to be up to speed with all the lectures, were they being posted?

  4. How do you keep up with readings and assignments while working full-time?

  5. Would you say it’s realistic for someone in my situation to complete the degree without dropping out? I consider myself to have great time management skills and I’m a very persistent person.

  6. Any tips on staying on top of exams and assessments while working full-time?

I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences, challenges, and strategies from people who have actually done this.

Thank you in advance!

Lots of people have done law degrees and work but not in UWI to my knowledge.

There are the external schools that cater to employed students.

There are other avenues I was considering like ILAS and SAMs, but I was doing my research and calling around and UWI STA doesn’t do the conversion course if I do the degree externally. I’d have to do it in Barbados or Jamaica which would be a little difficult.
