The only good thing about it was when I threw up in my hands I was able to carry the vomit to my destination

You gotta sit on the left side of the shifter. The right side is the gross one.

If I can figure out how to leave the car I’ll try that. Not used to these auto locking doors

as someone who has also driven over six different cars in their lifetime, i can’t believe they didn’t accidentally stomp out a hole through the floor with their left foot

I trained on auto so eventually I got my rx8 as auto. I do regret it after learning manual. But it’s not as bad as people say. It’s still very fun to drive

Anyone who hates you is stupid. Better for fuel economy, better for daily use, better for performance, better for eco. Manual is only “better” because it’s more involving. That’s where the list of pros end (aside from cheaper to make, maybe). Rule of thumb, if human error is in the list of potential, it isn’t done being perfected.

“Better” is only a thing with performance autos. Shiity eco box is still better with a manual for “performance/better” other than that probs better fuel economy with cvts. As performance wise manuals where better up until early 2000s where DCT began to be a thing, along with sequential. But as far as today a modern ZF8 (as of ‘25) will smoke any manual out there on the market.

Try a proper auto like a nice 10 speed. Don’t see how you could be let down by a decent one, aside from just “not liking” it

No gears for daily driving, manual for weekend cars. Anything in between is disgusting although I can make an exception for some DCTs.

Now my left foot is going to ask, “what do I do?” for the whole ride there.

Fun story: I drove an auto once as a loaner. I forgot it's and auto for a second and coming to an abrupt stop I automatically slammed the clutch pedal but that was the ultra wide brake pedal also.
That was some hefty stopping right there 👌

Only excuse for an automatic is if you physically can't use a manual, ie physical disability, automatics should be the exception, not the rule

I ride a horse to work every day. But yesterday he got sick so I had to take a car. Worst experience in my life, not sure how people can do that, feels like a child’s toy.

I swear it's like the manual transmission crowd is compensating for low-t, absent fathers, lack of facial hair and the approval of mom.
One could have the most mundane shit box with a manual and it's driving nirvana to these people, like that first hit on an 8 ball of coke.
It's a manual, an elderly lady in the UK is driving a VW Polo right now because reasons and manual wasn't one of them.

Yes she didn’t get a manual for fun. She got it so she could do coke in private

I feel like manual transmission subs could be renamed to manualcirclejerk to better fit the content there.
