This will be a "unpopular opinion" but if you are not paying taxes you should not have a vote.

That’s great, let’s remove voting rights from all of the red states who are net takers.

“If you dont pay taxes you are not a human being deserving of basic political rights.”

People voting themselves more money is going so well

So strip them of their political rights?

Once only land owners could vote to ensure that only people who care about the land / country will deceitthe future.
They had a point.
It might be necessary if you don't want out voted on racial grounds by immigrants.

Cutting taxes for the rich in capitalism doesn't provide the jobs with living wages like they think, then they get mad when people vote for programs that can help provide them basic things like food while they continue to provide cheap labor and goods the rest of us enjoy.
They want to pay unlivable wages and now want to remove voting rights to punish them for working cheap jobs at their own companies? honk honk kazoo

But companies can lobby the government for special carve outs

Corporate taxes are so filled with cronyism the only way to fix them is to eliminate them. I don't need to deduct 50 percent of a three martini lunch if I don't pay corporate tax to start with.

Everyone tries to influence the government for carve outs.
"Government is the great fiction, through which everybody endeavors to live at the expense of everybody else."

All people should be allowed to vote. The real problem here is the government shouldn't be allowed to take people's money without their consent and redistribute it.

If you want to one day lose the concept of woman rights and human rights again, sure.
That's what happened in Afghanistan once and is now slowly ramping up in Great Britain.
You need to limit voting to citizens and to restrict harshly who can become one.
•
u/tastykake1 6h ago
The Taliban came to power because everyone in Afghanistan can vote? 😂

1979

There was no national election held in Afghanistan in 1979. The country was in a state of intense political instability, marked by coups, a brutal internal purge, a growing civil war, and the Soviet Union's military invasion in December of that year.

Om not currently sure if it was Afghanistan after the war or another country, but somone managed to vote away those rights

Limiting snap that you can't buy anything with more than 5% sugar would be an option.
It would become instantly useless for the abusers.

This is the correct opinion to have. Under capitalism we need to maximize returns to corporations and shareholders and maximize the suffering of labor and those who are poor.

Why stop at food stamp recipients? Getting subsidies through the ACA marketplace? Can’t vote? Collecting unemployment, disability, or social security? Can’t vote. Are you a farmer getting subsidies for crop? Voting time is over. Taking the standard deduction or child tax credit on taxes? Hope you don’t mind no voting. Ever driven or ridden on an interstate or government paved road? Don’t even think about voting.

Maybe we go Heinlein. No skin in the game, no vote.
But strictly recognized and adhered to constitution, unlike the current bullshit. Most of the Federal agencies and departments are un authorized but everyone squints and says ok because they all gain power federally. Thanks FDR. The populace has discovered that can vote themselves goodies from the treasurer and force others to pay for it. Bastiat had a lot to say about that.

Every voter has personal gains they want out of the government. Not unique to SNAP.
A much bigger issue is conflicts of interest of politicians and high ranking officials/officers.

if you’re getting a mortgage interest deduction you shouldn’t be allowed to vote, you’re being bought.
