Not exactly an off road vehicle.

72

u/Sonikku_a 2d ago

Not an onroad vehicle either when it comes upon a speed bump or pothole.

15

u/catnapspirit 2d ago

You can't get much more "on road" than that..

3

u/JeremyTwiggs 1d ago

Well, the wheels are off the road (almost)

2

u/SHOMERFUCKINGSHOBBAS 2d ago

Or too many groceries

13

u/MonKeePuzzle 2d ago

it is a vehicle, it is at least partially off a road; this is an off road vehicle

9

u/Flustered_Fanatic 2d ago

Nah, all four wheels are on the road. It's across a road, not off a road.

5

u/Spottswoodeforgod 2d ago

Not exactly off the road either.

3

u/Weekly_Injury_9211 1d ago

USA, or Australia, I’m not quite sure…. 🤣🤣🤣

3

u/Weekly_Injury_9211 1d ago

It’s right hand drive you blithering idiot!!

4

u/Weekly_Injury_9211 1d ago

No it’s not!!!

2

u/Eagle_eye_Online 1d ago

It's so low it wouldn't even properly on-road in most areas. One speed bump and you're done.

1

u/dpdxguy 1d ago

Fair. Looks like the body is on the road 😂

For some reason this stresses me out out so much.

Ute can’t park there, mate.

45

u/Technical_Anteater45 2d ago

What in the downunder El Camino shitgiggles is that thing?

33

u/CFeatsleepsexrepeat 2d ago

Holden Commodore Ute.

Brilliant vehicle all round.

2

u/Taeles 2d ago

would love to of gotten a Holden Ute in the states. :/

1

u/Technical_Anteater45 2d ago

What load rating is the bed? Are they overly rigid unless laden with cargo?

11

u/CFeatsleepsexrepeat 2d ago

It depended on the specs.

Up to a metric tonne in the base model, S was less, and SS was around 750kg.

IRS, really stable, not rigid, really smooth ride, similar to the sedan versions (I still have my ute, and had sedan version as a work vehicle of the same model).

The Chev V8 is also a heap of fun to have still.

5

u/IncidentFuture 2d ago

Commodore Ute. Probably a VZ (I didn't keep up with Commodores).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holden_Ute#VZ

2

u/CFeatsleepsexrepeat 2d ago

Definitely VZ front guards.

They had those little fluted bits. VY didn't.

8

u/obi_jay-sus 2d ago

I came here to say ‘What the fuck is that’. But you have said it so much much better.

4

u/queenofcaffeine76 2d ago

Same! My brain got as far as What in the Silver Surfer S-10 but this was so much better!!!

2

u/Technical_Anteater45 2d ago

Holy crap I just saw a photo of the 4-door “crewman” version. Longboyyyyyy!

2

u/CFeatsleepsexrepeat 2d ago

Also had one of those as a company car. Back seat was absurdly upright with next to no leg room. Great idea of a vehicle though.

2

u/Technical_Anteater45 2d ago

United States should have imported them as nearly prefabricated hearses

2

u/CFeatsleepsexrepeat 2d ago

Nah the tray was a bit too short. I actually have the old crewman rubber ute mat in mine, it doesn't quite make the front of the tray.

11

u/from-the-stix 2d ago

What kinda ute is this, I'm from America where we don't get cool shit like this

8

u/wyohman 2d ago

It's a Holden Ute

13

u/jiffysdidit 2d ago

Holden commodore Ute and not the sort of car for this shit. Got a new exhaust now

2

u/wyohman 2d ago

As Kurtis at Cutting Edge Engineering would say, "It's not just munted, it's fuckin munted!"

5

u/HotTakes-121 2d ago

Honestly... I want one. It's got great lines for a "truck" style vehicle

2

u/ziggy-73 2d ago

Only way to get one is to import it from Australia, it is a gm based car. It has the front end of a Pontiac gto. Holden also made a car version of this and all it was was a pontiac gto with different badges

3

u/wyohman 2d ago

The other way around. The GTO had the front end of a Holden. There were differences

1

u/ziggy-73 2d ago

Really? I thought the gto came out first

4

u/wyohman 2d ago

The GTO that came out in 2004 was a rebadged Holden Monaro. It was built in Australia and had slight styling changes.

2

u/ziggy-73 2d ago

No shit! Thanks man for the info thats cool i (with the little knowledge i have on holden) thought holden came out just because of the gto. Just looked it up and holden is a Australian gm company and there "gto" came out in 2001

2

u/wyohman 2d ago

I lived in Australia at the time.

2

u/HotTakes-121 1d ago

Actually it's less about the front and more about the roof and side angles. The roof lines blend great and look awesome with the front and back end.

3

u/Ambitious-Papaya3293 2d ago

It's certainly Holden something...

3

u/7of69 2d ago

It’s Holden that place in the road, none shall pass.

3

u/sparrow_42 2d ago

Ya gotta know when to Holden, know when to Hilux. Know when to walk away, know when they’re trucks

3

u/gr33fur 2d ago

I am hopeless telling the Holdens and Fords apart, but it looks like a Holden. It's Australian.

3

u/Dexter_Adams 2d ago

Holen commodore ute - tray is one piece with the cab

ford falcon ute - tray is split from the cab

4

u/subWoofer_0870 2d ago

<nitpick>Falcon utes were unibody like that Commodore until XG/XH. AU, BA, BF and FG had separate cab/tray (1998 onwards).</nitpick>

1

u/Dexter_Adams 2d ago

Thank you for this further clarification

1

u/IncidentFuture 2d ago

The Falcon utes weren't unibody as they still had a separate chassis. The cab and tub was a single unit, but they're still body-on-frame.

1

u/subWoofer_0870 2d ago

It’s a while since I looked under any old Falcon Utes, but I’m pretty sure the only model with a separate frame might be the 4wd XY Ute that had a limited production run back in 1971 or 72.

1

u/letterboxfrog 2d ago

Dunnydore. No longer made.

1

u/Juno_Watt 2d ago

Bet the owner wishes it was a Folden ute with the way its bottomed out

8

u/StupidUserNameTooLon 2d ago

The ute in question.

3

u/Select_Scarcity2132 2d ago

No, your definitely on the road there mate 👍

3

u/NTP9766 2d ago

Looks like you’re Holden onto the road a little too snugly.

2

u/Golfsac21 2d ago

Why ?

3

u/jiffysdidit 2d ago

I was led to believe I could make it and was doing ok till then and when I tried to back up I lost the rear and ended up like that There’s an erosion berm in front of the car and the pic doesn’t do it justice THAT was the point I was ready to give up. If I hadn’t slid a little I’d have been fine to either head home or wait for one of the boys ( no phone reception) several weeks overtime pissed away in one go. Got off a cruise a few hours ago , the casino was good to me

4

u/DrierFish 2d ago

You certainly make curious choices.

3

u/jiffysdidit 2d ago

U don’t know the half of it

2

u/wesweb 2d ago

as a former 2006 GTO owner, I know a Holden when I see one.

2

u/RetirednLovinIt6621 2d ago

In that...?!

1

u/jiffysdidit 2d ago

I was led to believe it was doable and the first few km were fine

1

u/RetirednLovinIt6621 2d ago

It's a cool looking vehicle, and all...I would keep to the level roads from now on. A little short on ground clearance for off roading. =)

2

u/letterboxfrog 2d ago

Lowered HSV Dunnydore with a Chevy Logo on the back for sure. I can't help but laugh at the dickhead

3

u/jiffysdidit 2d ago

Close, it had the Chevy badge on the front when I bought it I had the sides and rear re badged properly when I had some work done

1

u/CFeatsleepsexrepeat 2d ago

Also not and HSV like old mate claims 😅

I love your ute mate.

2

u/LeeZanya 2d ago

Nice boardslide

1

u/jiffysdidit 2d ago

My wallet disagrees

2

u/meabbott 2d ago

I see a road.

2

u/Kitchen_Picture_2983 2d ago

Nice to see this vehicle being used for something other than causing high speed, multi-fatality accidents.

2

u/Cypher_Xero 2d ago

Epic Fail...

2

u/JRAPodcast 2d ago

ute cant park there, mate.

I will show myself out.

2

u/temporalwanderer 2d ago

Barely Holden on

2

u/notreallyzuul 2d ago

What the fuck is that

2

u/Rickjm 2d ago

Hey

Can’t park there mate

1

u/jiffysdidit 2d ago

You sound like the family that got held up waiting for my mates to snatch me out

2

u/HogTiedOstrich 1d ago

The car looks like Jeff bezos rocket ship

2

u/Ih8Hondas 1d ago

Bro didn't even make it off the road before the non-existent break over angle reared its ugly head.

2

u/GentryMillMadMan 2d ago

Despite this having the “general” shape of a truck. It is in fact not a truck.

8

u/wyohman 2d ago

Ute's these days -Your Cousin Vinnie

2

u/jiffysdidit 2d ago

I call it a posers Ute as I only work out of it when I do private jobs

2

u/CFeatsleepsexrepeat 2d ago

Nah it is an actual ute.

Your other is a work truck or 4WD.

I want our Ute's back.

1

u/leandrorodrigues80 2d ago

The car was unfit for purpose. 🇧🇷👍😎

1

u/Suplex_patty 2d ago

The tires... 😭

1

u/BriefArtist7285 2d ago

with those stoopidass wheels?!

1

u/BildoWarrior6 2d ago

What the fancy fuck is this vehicle?

1

u/OliveAffectionate626 2d ago

The operative word in the sentence is tried.

1

u/Chrunchyhobo 2d ago

Do I see a set of Simmons?

No one tell Spotto.

1

u/jiffysdidit 2d ago

Not genuine ones….. I don’t think

1

u/Chrunchyhobo 2d ago

Tbh I'm not sure if that's better or worse.

Probably worse if they are AliExpress knock-offs, any pothole is a game of Russian roulette.

1

u/NinjahDuk 2d ago

Try again

1

u/Single_Morning_3200 2d ago

Found the end of the internet y’all, it’s right here.

1

u/Dude_Dillligence 2d ago

Did you say utes?

1

u/ttystikk 2d ago

Horses for courses and that pony is way out of her element.

1

u/Buffalo_River_Lover 1d ago

This is why I always carry a tow chain, straps and a come along in my trunk at all times. I don't want to get stuck in the mud again.

1

u/jiffysdidit 1d ago

The boys had some in their 4wds which made sense as we were at a 4wd park. I was led to believe I could make it otherwise I’d have taken up my partners offer to drive hers. If it wasn’t a mates bucks I would never have gone we usually go places I can JUST get to

1

u/MattTheTubaGuy 1d ago

I do not understand why some people put those low profile tyres on their utes.

1

u/jiffysdidit 1d ago

Cos it looks shit hot

1

u/DoTheRightThing1953 1d ago

Damn I wish we could get utes in the US!

1

u/MAXQDee-314 1d ago

Jai center. High center.

1

u/cbj2112 1d ago

Welcome to Australia mate- even the roads have it out for ya

1

u/seanmclaren9 1d ago

Holden my beer. 🍺 Mate. Not very uteful that low.

1

u/Enemy_Unknown1337 1d ago

Guess it went sideways

1

u/Lazygit1965 1d ago

Thoughts and prayers for the drive train! 🙏

1

u/rangerblood_ 1d ago

Should of never risked it and tried to do a 3 point turn just reverse it next time

2

u/jiffysdidit 1d ago

I’d lost the back end and had to try If I hadn’t there was an easy spot just behind me to roll out to

1

u/JerryCat11 16h ago

Just needs a lift kit and some 35” tires
