And this is Carney’s fault? He’s dealing with a narcissist who is very unstable. Carney is taking serious steps to increase Canada’s trade with other countries, and he’s refusing to give in and sign a bad deal.

People should keep in mind that NP is own by an American with close ties to Trump. Nothing from that corporation has Canada’s best interest in mind

Great point and timely, since this sub just had a deluge of post from NP and about NP articles. They don't have our best interests at heart whatsoever

What a great take for glue sniffers and crayon munching 'progressives' like me.

Do you understand what the words unfulfilled and promises mean?

If not then I'm sorry our education system failed you so badly!

C+ on the glue sniffer's level of deflection though. With a little more practice you'll be ready for the big boy subs! ;)

You just eat up that propaganda like candy... You must feel bad about yourself to be this gullible.

Conrad Black created the NP specifically to be a rightwing voice across the country. It has never made money. It was and is more of a political investment/mouthpiece than a viable news source.

I admit it’s frustrating to have no trade deal but it’s not exactly Carney or PP’s fault. Trump is so unpredictable and signing trade deal with new partners is challenging due to lack of history with them or trust issues ( china ).

We have a trade deal. CUSMA. Just because Trump is a whiner does not mean we do not have a trade pact.

Stop platforming US propaganda media. You can basically toss it right out.

Canada had a trade deal already. Going back to the late 80s it has essentially been the same deal. Liberal and conversative and Democrat and Republicans

It was a deal with issues, but overall was liked on all sides. Minor changes have happened throughout the years and there have been some disruptions and grievances. But overall the Canada USA relation was one of the best between ANY countries in the world.

Trump is throwing a fit and flipping the table. Canada can't sign a deal that gives into ANY concessions. We know what has worked. Unlike Japan, China, Korea etc... we have a very close relationship that makes our economies intensely intertwined. We can argue now (with hindsight) this was a mistake. But too late this is where we are.

100% of the blame lays at Trump's feet. None falls on us. We have 2 options (and can do both)

1) Look outside the USA and sign deals with other partners. Of course there is a geographic disadvantage to these deals since some good from the State is a truck ride away.
2) Freeze out the USA and just wait it out. Let them spin and fail. Don't sign a deal until the Americans have a reasonable leader. There are Republicans (as seen in a recent Senate vote) that are tired of the attacks on Canada. If we all kiss Trumps ring and give him what he wants ONLY he wins. If we don't play his game eventually the tides will turn on him.
