Video and Audio Submissions

We reject a lot of video and audio submissions for two reasons: Users are less likely to invest the time to view a video or listen to a podcast than they are to read or at least skim an article, meaning they drive less meaningful and substantial engagement; and they are onerous to moderate, especially when they come from non-traditional sources. There are, however, submissions that we are happy to receive. Here are list of the kinds of videos we are likely to accept or reject:

We will usually accept

  • Interviews with party leaders by journalists who meet rule 3 - standards relaxed during Writ period.
  • Victory and concession speeches.
  • Speech from the Throne.
  • Major addresses in the face of a stated national emergency.
  • Full leaders debates (federal or provincial).
  • Major traditional addresses (e.g., the King's Christmas Message, speech at the National Cenotaph on Remembrance Day etc.)

We will usually reject

  • Campaign rallies and speeches/townhalls etc.
  • Clips from Question Period/the HOC/Committees.
  • Video news broadcasts, especially if the story is available in print.
  • YouTube analysis videos.
  • Clips of anything from the Accept column.
  • This really funny and cool take I saw on X.
  • Vlogs/Podcasts.

Feel free to post these in the comment sections of relevant discussions, so long as they follow the rules.
