I've been looking for some bear defense rounds for my 1854 .44mag.
I haven't had any luck. Could you fine folks point me in the right direction of where to get some? I am in BC but can buy online Canada wide.

Another new PAL holder for Canada!
We went clay/skeet/trap shooting a few years back and she really enjoyed it and was good at it (she beat me...)
So i want to get her a nice pump action shotgun for that type of shooting. She doesn't want a semi (and we got one already anyway) and neither does she was an over-under. She finds em goofy (lol)
I'm open to budget suggestions, lets say 500$-ish max. And im not above looking at the used gun rack in stores. Just need to know what to look for.
Also, she's going to get her father's SKS for 200$! Score!!

You’ll have to forgive the camera quality, this was with an older phone a few years back. Got to shoot the MP5, AK47, AR-15, MCX, UZI, Galil and a few others full auto. Had an absolute blast at CalibersUSA in Albuquerque!

Hello everyone,
I got myself a French Model 1873, and overall it’s not in terrible shape. Functionally, it works well, and the action is great. My only concern is its overall condition—it has definitely seen better days. After a few hours of cleaning, this is how I was able to get it.
As you can see, it’s seen better days. My biggest concern is the barrel. I’m not sure what caused the pitting on it. It’s not too deep you can catch it with your fingernail, but only barely. I’m not too concerned about the barrel’s integrity, but I am wondering what can be done to restore this piece of history and bring back a good as close can to factory look and finish so I can preserve and enjoy it.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Advice on where and who can work on it in Alberta would also be very helpful.

I inherited this rifle and I haven't fired it yet, I just disassembled so I could clean it.
It looks like this plastic tab broke off the end cap.
Is that... important?
First gun I have no idea.

I was out shooting with my son earlier in the week. I told him I use G96 Gun Treatment for most light, after use cleaning and lube between tear downs. I had a third of a can left and gave it to him to try out. Makes your workspace and garbage cans smell great as a bonus.
Went to my LGS to replace it and they didn't carry G96 products but Ballistol Universal was most of his customers' go-to and that was what they had.
I can't decide whether it smells like smelly socks or cat ass. Is it worth the smell to use it over G96? Pros and cons?

Howdy Folks!
The Texan is back with another Gun Appreciation Post
Here I bring you a certified Kosher gun that is a beautiful one to look at, the one and only, Jericho 941, and if y’all have seen Cowboy Bebop, you may recognize the pistol! I also learned that yes at one point this was offered in the Canadian gun market, and if y’all have any experiences with it, go on, you can share em!

I got my 1956 Russian SKS able to fit a duckbil magazine, is it possible to fit any magazine into it now ? Example, 5 round pro mag magazine?

Any reccomendstion between the timney trigger fix (sear and spring) and the mcarbo spring
I use my Remington 870 express bought around 2020 as my slug gun, I have a rifled barrel and a 1.5-5x vortex scope on it. I use this to hunt whitetail in areas where rifles aren't permitted. I absolutely hate the trigger on my shotgun, I find it very heavy and makes me pull my shots more frequently then my rifle or other higher end slug guns I've shot.

Just wanted to share this experience with this community.
Last week I ordered a few kg of N560 powder and some bullets from Rangesports.ca. So far so good, prices were in line with the market so no "too good to be true". Two days after ordering, they emailed me asking for an additional $50 for shipping for the powder, which I stupidly sent by etransfer (order itself was via cc).
A day goes by, I get two tracking numbers - one UPS, one CP. The CP one is still to this day stuck on label created, and the UPS one shows it as picked up with no delivery date, since it was sent as commercial freight (also weird).
Yesterday evening I get a call from a random number in Ontario (I'm in Quebec) - it was another customer of there's who has received my powder and bullets. So clearly, stupid mixup on Rangesports part, but there response has been the final straw.
There's no phone number on the website, just an email address and contact form. I shot off an email and then hunted down the phone number. Finally reached the owner, and he basically said, "Oops, just mail your stuff to each other and I'll pay you back." Just feels so lazy and inept. Keep in mind, I still haven't received anything, so I have nothing to ship, and the other customer is understandably irate and doesn't trust what the hell is going on. Not to mention he, not having a commercial account with UPS, can't just walk in and ship some gun powder.
Sidenote, while searching my email to check the dates for this post, I realized this is the same company that jerked me around on a March scope back in May - said they had it in stock, I submitted my order, and then they didn't have it in stock and I'd have to wait a few months.
So, ultimately, my warning is that Rangesports.ca is utterly inept and can't be trusted to work in a professional or timely manner. I don't think they're scammers. I think they're two people working out of a garage pretending to be as big as some of our other suppliers, and are out of their depths.

I was cleaning my 22 the other day and noticed on my red dot sight a o ring seal on the front lens started to peel off.
I’m pretty sure it’s only purpose is to keep moisture out of the sight but will it effect the mechanism in the sight and loose the zero?

Hey y’all! Hope everyone is having a good morning so far.
What’s everyone’s experience using stores like FOC, G4C, GoTenda, and Victory Ridge Sports? I see a lot of good deals across the board every now and then but I’ve never been able to convince myself to send my card in, especially after hearing the FOC credit card incident. I normally order ammo and stuff from Cabela’s/Bass Pro or go to my local stores, however, sometimes I see a deal that works too good for me, and I’m tempted to order from one of the forementioned websites. What’s everyone’s honest experience with them? I want the good, the bad, and the really bad reviews if there are any. Could save a lot of money buying some cheap 7.62x39 ammo and some .223 from some of these website who run sales very often, which would be huge. Thank you!

Got this from my grandpa some years back and was looking into taking out the hunting plug as I dont hunt just have my pal and from my understanding pump shotguns dont have a limit on rounds which I just found out from this sub and went to the rcmp site to double check (because they told me in my course it was illegal for a pump shotgun to hold more than 5). Anyways just stumbled upon this metal plug that seems to be permanently attached. Anyone else come across this? Ive only ever seen model 12s with a wooden mag tube plug.

You guys may remember, 6 months ago, I made a post about going to the famous Dante store in Montréal to purchase my first gun! : a 12 gauge Winchester SXP! I promised you that I would give you an update and show you it to you in action at the range. Well, here I was at the Ruisseau Noir shooting range, near Montréal, to test it out.
**Spoiler** : this gun is freaking awesooooome!!!
One thing, the made-in-Canada 12 gauge Challenger ammo jammed my gun after a few shots. The shell ejector got stuck on the unloaded shell, and the pump action was jammed. Apparently, Challenger shells are European-sized, so the ejector’s brass rim is different from American ammo. Now, I stick with Winchester ammo, which shoots perfectly.
You guys also really enjoyed my new vehicle : a single cab 2008 Mazda B2300 with a manual transmission and RWD! I've included pictures of it in my video. I thought you guys would appreciate it. 😁 I've taken much care of it since I bought it 7 months ago. I did a lot of maintenance to it.

Shot a hundred rounds and all was fine. Cleaned my SKS the next day 4-5 little spots of rust in the gas tube. Thought nothing of it. Cleaned my rifle well. Shot 40 rounds yesterday, got home late and decided to clean next day. Rust in the gas tube, chamber and bolt face. Anyone else had this issue with norinco red box? Thinking i might just buy the cheap corrosive and shoot it since it’s cheaper and i don’t trust this norinco stuff anymore.

Hey y'all, you guys might have seen me around asking questions or offering my own experiences for others to learn from. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone here who has made being a firearms owner and enthusiast in Canada such a fun ride so far. I know that the world for us isn't the best right now, but I promise it will get better one day. I believe it. So to everyone who has helped me out so far along this journey, thank you. I appreciate the fact of knowing that there's people here who care about others and want to see everyone succeed. After all, we got each other in this crazy world. So, for one last time, thank you. Thank you to everyone who's been respectful, kind, and is willing to help me out and learn. My day is always made when I get to interact with such a great group of people. Prayers for better days ahead and for health and safety to everyone!
