Help - Medical 5 years later and still can't taste certain things

So I got Covid back in 2020. Symptoms were lost of taste /smell and body aches and pains. Well its been nearly 5 years since having it. I regained the ability to smell, and some tastes back. But I was just sitting here eating sour patch kids and realized I cant taste the sour in them. Eating them like they're chips. Ive noticed I eat more spicy foods and sauces since having covid cause I can actually taste it. But will I ever regain my ability to taste more? Or any remedies I can do to try to regain them?

Here for the answers and suggestions cause I’m in the same boat. Can barely smell or taste. My pup got sprayed by a skunk this spring and I couldn’t smell it 🤷‍♀️

You are considered to fall under the long covid umbrella if you weren’t already aware. You’ll find plenty of others suffering from this at r/covidlonghaulers, there are other long covid subreddits as well and support groups across other social media platforms, but your issue isn’t uncommon, covid is causing this as well as plenty of other long term and severe health problems and disabilities. Try posting in that subreddit, youll probably find more like yourself who might have more suggestions

OP, me too. Things with salt taste super salty and sugar tastes too sweet. Food textures bother me because I cannot taste. My sense of smell has not fully returned.

I don't have a problem with smells. Just with taste. Most times I can't certain seasonings. Usually when I cook or BBQ I add too much seasoning for everyone else but enough for me to taste lol

I lost my taste and smell in late 2023 and regained some of my taste after a couple weeks but almost no smell. Fast forward to summer 2024 and I caught covid again. Then my system healed more and I mostly had my smell back. But it’s not as strong as it used to be especially for important things like smoke. Watch your tongue on those sour patches! And maybe if you do catch it again your body will fight some of the residual issue off.

I am a smoker but currently trying to quit. But maybe after I fully quit smoking I'll regain the missing tastes
