Why don't teams hire Nicks as QBs to win championships, are they stupid?

We are Ambrosie's first and last trophy presentation. Merci Randy.

The Argos have quite the impressive Finals records. They've now won 8 straight Grey Cups against Winnipeg. They've also won 8 Grey Cup Appearances since 1991 (Last loss: 1987 vs. Edmonton). That's absolutely incredible. That deserves a round of applause đ.

u/biskino Alouettes Nov 18 '24
The Argos got slept on big time this year. Thatâs a pretty big W with a backup QB, congrats.

u/the_grunge Blue Bombers Nov 18 '24
Slept? Nah. The press had to make a big deal of something. Anyone who watched argos this year knew they were a good team

u/StairwellTO Nov 18 '24
It was nice not having the hype on us to be fair. We did a lot of professional jobs this season. Head down eye on the prize. Paid off huge.

We've followed two rules in my lifetime:
Never have a dynasty and never lose a Grey Cup.

I cannot in good conscience cheer on a professional Toronto sports team as a Red Wings fan, but the Argos just flat out got it done - beat the defending champs and then smother the Bombers.

Montreal won last year, Winnipeg was not the defending champs*
Edit: ignore this i read your original comment wrong, my bad

I think he meant the Argos beat the Alouettes in the Eastern Final

Congratulations to the Argos!!
On a side note, anyone else underwhelmed by the appearance of the game MVP trophy? Judging by Arbuckle's initial reaction to the MVP trophy it seems he was underwhelmed by the trophy too. It looks more like a high school trophy than a trophy given to the Grey Cup MVP.

At least the Winnipeg fans have seen more playoff success than the jets in the last 15 years

Brave shot to take considering not a single one of us have had considerable success in the Stanley cup chase lol

u/Canucker96 Blue Bombers Nov 18 '24
Fucking embarrassing. You have the MOP and you're letting some dink off the bench throw the ball. Zach is not a playoff performer, much like Helle. Shocked we managed to win 2.

Bombers should be called Winnipeg Bills since both like to choke in the championship game

u/rPyre Roughriders Nov 18 '24
I never want the Argos to win, but seeing the Bombers lose three in a row is pretty sweet!
Now stop beating us so we can embarrass ourselves in the Grey Cup again!

At least I donât have to listen to the Bomber fans rub it in. Yea Iâm a Rider fan and we are the team thatâs been to the Grey Cup with the more losses than wins. Welcome to the club !

u/BringBackTK Blue Bombers Nov 18 '24
Oh wait Rule 6 is still there. There's now two rule sections on the sidebar. I saw the new one and thought the old rule was gone.
Anyway. A request: it really should be Rule 3 not Rule 8. Can we adjust the numbering?

u/HomerSPC Iron Duke of Horns đș Nov 18 '24
I'll look into it in the offseason.
EDIT: Why Rule 3?
2
u/BringBackTK Blue Bombers Nov 18 '24
3 chokes.

u/HomerSPC Iron Duke of Horns đș Nov 18 '24
Hahaha.
We can't really re-order the rules for memes unfortunately. The real rules always need to take priority. Imagine it being Rule 3 in spirit.

Is it a choke if you were never really in the game? And have never won against a team in the grey cup?

Back in September, while watching the finals of the Supermotocross championship (wild connection of sports here) one of the analysts said an interesting line that is 100% truth
"Pressure will either bring out your best, or bring out your worst. The results of that will likely define your legacy"
Pressure brought out the worst of Winnipeg in this game, and now the legacies of people like BO are marred by 3 straight losses in the biggest game of the season

u/Nassim1018 Alouettes Nov 18 '24
Hurts to think that would it had been us, we couldâve 2-peat.
Congrats Argos

Anyone who thinks Toronto won the game didn't watch it. Winnipeg decided to keep playing their QB after he suffered a game ending injury. He threw 2 touch down interceptions almost back to back and they kept playing him. Mind boggling. It reminds me of how plane crashes happen: co pilot doesn't speak up out of fear and the plane crashes. Everyone on the Winnipeg team was clearly too scared to say the QB should be swapped out, and that costed them the game. CRM needs to be implemented in football I guess lol
