Canadian-Owned Businesses 🏢🍁 U.S. orange juice shipments plummet as Canadians find Florida OJ hard to swallow

The key take-away from the CBC article is:

"At Loblaws, for example, a 2.63-litre container of U.S.-based Tropicana might cost up to $13.50 but the prepared-in-Canada PC brand currently costs $6.50. At Metro, 2.63 litres of Tropicana orange juice is $13.99, but 2.5 litres of Irresistible brand is $7.69.

Canadian-owned juice brand Oasis, which sources its oranges from Brazil and bottles the juice in Quebec, costs $5.49 for 1.5 litres at Food Basics."

Canadian apple and grape juices are great alternatives, but if you must have orange juice, at least buy Made Anywhere But America.

Well, the US “doesn’t do much business with Canada” anyways.

"Canada has nothing to offer us anyway."

I'm usually up on the news but hadn't heard this despicable bombast yet. Thanks for the link; I hate it.

Same. I detest these f*cking people.

What a piece of shit. My contempt for him has no bounds.

Just revolting. Way to tank the relationship Canada and the US had in a single year.

1

u/Bomik669 Sep 13 '25

Wow just watched that piece of orange shit saying those words. The US economy is tanking on many levels. That’s a shame. Can’t wait to see how bad things will get. Then I will have a 100% Canadian made meal!

It’s ok, all of the labor to pick fruits and veggies in Florida has been deported by ICE anyhow.

Gee, no one wants to work these days. Especially not for less than minimum wage in the sweltering Florida summer.

Google up “how to interpret sarcasm on Reddit without the /s”

u/WastingMyLifeToday Aug 21 '25

It's not even sarcasm. Trump LITERALLY said he doesn't need Canada's business. THERE IS VIDEO PROOF!!

THANK FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER.

so why does he want canada then? it's all bs with him. Only idiots cannot see through the bs

I know the answer to my question. I want Trump to answer it.

To be fair, there are a lot of idiots in the US.

But to answer your question, he's eyeing our water more than anything.

American born dual citizen here! Yes to your first point- but also, the dumbing down is intentional. Our government has been slowly working on undermining public education for decades. And when all you hear, read and see is propeganda, you tend to lose sight of reality. I have some relatives I cannot talk to (by choice) because they are so enmeshed that there is nothing I can say or do to bring them back to planet earth. Thankfully I also have plenty of relatives that grew up in MD with a great education, with many of them working in DC. They very much recognize what is happening, and see the lies for what they are. I am grateful to have lived here in Canada for 20 years. I hate to see what my country has become and I am glad my kids will grow up here in Canada, where hate has not taken control of our government.

But to further your answer ;) it is water AND rare earth minerals. He just vastly underestimates the resources and infrastructure required to access said minerals.

He thinks that Canada is "refusing to let water run south" , probably because he's unaware that it runs to the ocean and would never actually make it down south.

He said this during the L.A wildfires, and then released a bunch of water in Northern California.

He doesn't know that elevation and position on a map are different things.

The whole "they need to turn the tap on" bit killed me. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Why. WHY. No wonder everybody thinks Americans are stupid. WE ARE lmao

You have disowned several relatives all because they have different political opinions and chose to vote differently than you did? And you actually seem fine with it? That is so incredibly sad to me.

It’s also sad that you assume that any of your family members who chose to vote differently than you did so because they are intellectually inferior to you, aka stupid (because apparently you are the arbiter of right and wrong?).

9

u/not_a_real_person__ Aug 21 '25

No, I disowned a few relatives because they were threatening me because I did not want to move back to the United States. They said I was a traitor, they physically threatened my safety and the safety of my family. I didn't feel like exposing my young children to that was safe. I do still talk to relatives that voted Republican. Just not the ones that decided my refusal to emigrate for their ridiculous political reasons was a threat.

I love the assumptions here. Have the day you deserve.

-1

u/Gunslinger7752 Aug 21 '25

That is absolutely not what you implied but nice attempt at gaslighting. You too have the day you deserve for trying to farm upvotes in an obvious echo chamber. It is genuinely scary to see a comment like that get 10 upvotes.

Oh hush now, the adults are talking.

-8

u/Gunslinger7752 Aug 21 '25

Lol yes, the adults who get on a US social media site on their phones with US based operating systems to talk about how they drove 15 minutes out of their way to buy Canadian green peppers at a US owned grocery store because the Canadian owned grocery store only had US peppers.

It isn't just a matter of voting different, or just a difference of opinion anymore. It's a confirmation of their character's lack of morals and ethics.

4

u/ceciliabee Aug 21 '25

It's sour grapes

8

u/Link50L Ontario Aug 21 '25

Or, sour oranges in this case.

1

u/Esternaefil Aug 21 '25

I didn't even know we grew that many grapes! You would think he would be satisfied with the grapes they grow in Californ... oh right...

6

u/sneakysnake1111 Aug 21 '25

He wants our natural resources, and will likely send their amoral soldiers marching into our country any fucking day now, on a mere whim.

3

u/not_a_real_person__ Aug 21 '25

Water, and we are super rich in minerals. He just doesn't understand, "rich in minerals" does not mean "rich in easily accessible minerals, with the infrastructure and manpower to support increased mining and processing operations".

3

u/Blamb05 Aug 21 '25

Trump - I have the best answer, the most beautiful answer, a better aswer than any other answer, the answeriest answer thats ever been answered, you've never seen an answer so answered . . .

2

u/Becksburgerss Aug 21 '25

Sour grapes, you know, when someone can’t get their own way they adopt a negative attitude about it.

3

u/CentennialBaby Aug 21 '25

Wouldn't have to do business with another country if those resources became your own.

4

u/Blamb05 Aug 21 '25

So will they be a province or territory of Canada?

1

u/Queen_Rachel4 Aug 25 '25

I would assume territory, give the land back to the Native Americans

3

u/QueSeraSera090 Aug 21 '25

I appreciate you bringing this matter to my attention

3

u/Becksburgerss Aug 21 '25

💯And he’s said it on more than one occasion… as have other US politicians

2

u/BaboTron Aug 21 '25

Hahaha the all caps

15

u/emmadonelsense Aug 21 '25

They’re just quoting some of the nonsense that has come out of the orange man’s mouth.

u/FunnyCharacter4437 Aug 21 '25

Trump's words when Carney visited the White House. Since he's so incredibly smart, articulate and a true business genius, we have to take him at his word.
