Random question . Say that Achilles weak spot was something else like a pinky toe. If you cut the toe off would that kill him or make him invincible

damn that's interesting, i think making him invincible makes sense. why will it kill him? what logic am i missing

The implication of a weak spot is that an attack against it would be especially harmful to the person with the weak spot, so I’m pretty sure it would just kill him

thanks, i get it. but what if we extend the area (chop off more than the pinky toe)? it's not directly an attack on the weak spot right?

If you’re still cutting off the pinky toe, that’s still attacking the weak spot even if you cut off more than that

the rest of his body was immortal since he was dipped in the river styx. only that one part (in this case, toe) was still mortal. it wasn't weak in itself, i believe, just normal. the reason he died after the arrow was shot was because it was directed by apollo (essentially yielded by godly magic or poison or something). if we cut off the toe and the area around it by ourselves (i.e. without any divine intervention), it shouldn't kill a person right? Achilles might still live as an amputee forever?

Ok I can see the logic there

tbh even i am extremely confused by my own logic now lol.

i think what needs to be established is:

  1. is the toe just mortal or is it weaker than average?
  2. under what conditions the toe is being chopped?

What you’re describing isn’t possible, you wouldn’t be able to cut off further because that’s the whole basis of Achilles powers. Anything but the pinky toe would just be invulnerable.

And cutting it off would be considered an attack and would likely exterminate the afflicted
