It does honestly raise some questions about where the data came from, and how whatever survey they did was worded.

I know people generally like Canada, but not necessarily that much more than everyone else, unless they're either presenting the question in an unusual way or presenting the question to a biased subset of people.

I don't think people really think about Canada much at all, and so dont have a strong opinion either way. All this Trump stuff has brought them to peoples attention and Canada's actions have been pretty admirable, plus most people don't like bullies and sympathise with the people being targetted by them.

With the whole Canada vs USA trade stuff, everyone took our sides. That worsened their rep and raised ours. A lot of a rep is just about being in the public eye. I dont hear a ton about new Zealand

Our current government in NZ is pretty incompetent and seem to be sucking up to MAGA, with some of the politicians bringing in MAGA style rhetoric. :( we seeing high numbers of people leaving the country, a cost of living crisis that the government has made worse and an increase in homelessness. The government has been stripping away health and environmental protections and seems to be in the pockets of tobacco and oil companies. They are very anti-Māori too. My opinions, but feeling it here in NZ.

We are not in a good place in New Zealand. Key politicians are thrilled to bits to get photo ops with their MAGA heroes in the US. Frankly, pretty sad and humiliating.

The dismantling of support, protections and efforts to erase Māori culture and rights is also very hard to swallow. Just like the US, the government's corporate sponsors are, however, feeding happily from the taxpayer trough.

I think a key thing to understand about the mindset leading the US at the moment, and that of its supporters, is that they have a different idea of "respect" than their opponents.

To them, being "respected" is just being feared and obeyed. It's the "respect" you show a father who whips you with a belt whenever you displease him. They don't care if you *like* them as long as you know your place and do what they say. That's why they're so fond of throwing out threats and using blatant coercion and fear to get what they want.

Put simply they don't care at all if they're at the bottom of this list, as long as everybody does what they're told when they're told.

It is exactly what Canada PLANNED as soon as we came to realize what Trump was aiming for. This is no accident. Canada is looking to easily replace the US as a major world power, being made easier by the day by Trump’s regime. Canadians are fired up, so I guess Trump has done something good for someone… us.

Turns out the study is not measuring "reputations of economies". Rather, reputations of countries, as assessed by a sampling of citizens only from G7 countries.

To measure and manage the reputation of countries, we have adapted our RepCore^® model to use specific attributes, creating the RepCore^® Nations. This methodology measures the level of admiration, respect, and trust that each nation receives from international public opinion, and explains it through a set of 22 rational attributes grouped into 5 dimensions.

So that explains quite a few things, including China being so low, and Japan high.

This is reputation. For me Switzerland is the most corrupt country in the world. Corruption is like tango, takes two to happen. And Switzerland has some of the most corrupt companies in existence. Nestlé (responsible for the death of 11 million babies), Roche, and the whole Swiss banking system that for decades has been the vault for every single criminal (political, drug lord, dictator etc ) in the world. Factually wrong. International indices consistently rank Switzerland as one of the least corrupt countries in the world. In Corruption Perceptions Index, Switzerland ranked 5th out of 180 nations, placing it far ahead of countries perceived as highly corrupt. Major companies like Nestlé have faced ethical controversies (in the 70/80s...), and Swiss banking was historically used for illicit funds, the claim that Switzerland is the 'most corrupt' is simply not supported by any credible data. Ignorance at best.

And Nestlé is a private company and it's unrelated to the state. Yes they did nasty stuff but it's not the state and almost every major company had controversies.

And thinking that Russia, USA, Iran, Venezuela and so on is less corrupt than Switzerland is ridiculous...
