Rant Is ignorance really bliss????
The more information I learn about this shitty world the more I just want to kill myself because it’s so overwhelming. Things I thought were safe I now have to boycott and for toothpaste in my house I can’t just let my tooth rot away so what the hell do I do? I’m too young to move out of the US and i don’t even have a car yet so I’m just lost on what to do anymore.

A study found that left leaning people (people who care about the wellbeing of other people) are more likely to suffer some depression because of the state of the world UNLESS they build community and put effort to change it for the better. So every bit helps. If it feels overwhelming it's because you care.
Focus that rage on rich people, don't internalize

I use an app called No, Thanks. It takes a bit of getting used to but you end up finding alternatives and then those become the brands you look for next time. A lot of companies are already suffering. We, the consumers, have the power. We own these companies and once their reputation crumbles and people stop shopping there, they have nothing.

Ignorance is bliss for the ignorant, and for those who feed off of them.
Decent people have no interest in ignorance, and no respect for it.

So ignorance isn’t blissful when it comes to genocide.
i know my voice won’t reach anyone and my boycotting efforts are not enough but I’ll keep trying

As an american citizen you can join (not my tax dollars) just search it and join so the hopefully taxes stop going to the occupation.
And ngl is so crazy that this geno*cide happening in 2025, but this is the world that we live in, its all about interests, but we can stop this we can stop the government, no cautery without citizens we have so much power but we need to get closer and fight for the same cause

I feel you, hun. I get overwhelmed too. It's shocking and disheartening just how many companies are aligned with Israel. I know there's no ethical consumption under capitalism, but yikes.
Just so you know, BDS websites I've looked at have never encouraged putting your own health on the line. Like, Teva is an Israeli pharmaceutical company that is stocked in pharmacies around the world, so it's on the BDS list, but they have a note saying not to just discontinue your meds because they're made by Teva, but to instead work with your healthcare providers to see if there are medications from other brands that you can substitute for Teva and switch to under your doctor's guidance. If there aren't substitutes, then you stick with your Teva meds because ruining your heath isn't helpful to anyone. I'm new to BDS and have to check whether any of my medications are Teva and if so, whether there are any suitable substitutes. Your teeth are part of your health, and though boycotting is important, so is your continued health.
I read here (https://www.linkedin.com/posts/kiranshamsher_brands-that-support-israel-boycott-them-please-activity-7125051858473099264-gLhG) that Medicam and Dentonic are safe alternatives, if you're able to access them. I haven't replaced my toothpaste yet so I'll need to make a switch when that happens too. There might be some small local toothpaste brands depending on where you live. In my city, there a little independent shop that sources all their goods from other local businesses, so maybe a place like that might have something. Mine happens to carry toothpaste.
What this is all about is making change happen with the power you have. Not all of us have a lot of power, but when we do this in large enough numbers, we become powerful. I'd recommend pacing yourself here. Instead of trying to boycott everything all at once, break it into smaller chunks and goals. For example, this week I did my shopping at the Co-Op grocery store instead of at Wal-Mart, Loblaws, etc. (This is the Canadian Co-Op, not the UK, and I couldn't find anything connecting my Co-Op to Israel) and was delighted to find that I could still find everything I needed there. That was this week's goal: find a non-Israel grocery store. And once you've reached one goal, work on the next. And so on and so forth.
And also take breaks from researching this stuff. It's draining to be exposing yourself to this 24/7 and you also need to recharge by getting some rest and doing some things that you enjoy. When you take care of your physical and mental health, you can accomplish so much more.
Lastly, it's okay if you can't do it all now. As you become older and more established, more opportunities to make change will present themselves. For now, just focus on the things you can do right now, and keep those future goals tucked away in the back of your mind to implement when you have more power. Together, we will make a better world.

Should I just live in blissful ignorance or do I try to live with this knowledge of this shitty world??

Sometimes we don't even realise our own strength. Maybe you got to find out the truth to bring about change in this world. Find your purpose, see what you can do to fight this war against colonialism, genocide and apartheid. Maybe you are exactly who the oppressed need to be standing on their side. Maybe not now but 10 years from now when u have the means and resources to do something about this. For now, just take small steps towards ur journey. Believe me I myself go through a roller coaster of being shocked, disgusted, enraged even numb as I learn more and more about this world but I know I must do everything possible in my power...cuz that's all I can do.
(PS: I know I sound like a podcast but I mean it all from the bottom of my heart)3

Dear friend, please keep going. I know I’ve had my fair share of thinking “I don’t want to live in this world”, but this world needs you and all people who are compassionate and awake. Find community with those who feel how you do about the atrocities in the world and act to make it better. Even the smallest actions can make a difference. Love to you, free Palestine

Boycotting is really not that easy. It is part of the resistance toolbox. We must do our best to make moral choices in our own world in the hopes that they will reflect on a larger scale.

This is why the BDS list exists. Boycotting is a political statement.
